well i am agreed that every situation happens for its cause. we only need to find new things to work it out. Life is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice so we have to be careful in our every actions and face the consequences for our mistakes in life.
I just bought the Diary of a Madman Legacy Edition yesterday at a local Best Buy & I've gotta say: both discs are incredible! The 'live' CD is even better than the 'Tribute' recording from the 80's. One day, I would love to see a 'live recording' from the Diary tour w/Randy on it: I would buy that in a heartbeat! Btw, I took my son to see Ozzy here in St. Louis back in January of this year: in the words of a 12 year-old, the 'best concert I've ever seen' (albeit it was his 3rd concert ever: he's seen Rush & Iron Maiden w/me too)...the setlist that night was awesome! I always look forward to new music from Ozzy as well: hope he produces another great CD w/his current bandmates soon.
I`m shure the box set is awesome,I love Ozzy`s earlier years and "Mr.Crowley is my favorite song. But life goes on and Ozzy`s new stuff is great to. I`ve never been to an Ozzfest, I would love to, but I`m dissabled and well never make it because of finances. In the mean time I well continue to listen to Ozzy and the old Sabbath stuff. For those of you who are spiritual, the Cross is where God defeated Satan. And Christ is the answer, so keep on Rocking and Rolling. God Bless you all!
Many thanks to Ozzy and Sharon for releasing this box set featuring Randy Rhoads on guitar. I love the complete set but the footage leaves me wanting more! The next thing the fans need is a complete pro shot video of a Blizzard Show and a Pro shot video of a complete Diary tour show featuring Randy on guitar. Throwing in a Diary live audio show would be cool too! Don't let us wait another thirty years to get this.
Thanks, Funk
I am really disappointed by this over-priced release.
First, it's overpriced. Basically they force us to pay $150.00 US for the DVD (which will probably be released later to capitalize on even more profits [at the expense of Daisley and Kerslake]).
The newly released footage is great, overpriced but great!
Second, Sharon does her best to keep Daisley and Kerslake chopped out of the pictures. Take a look at Daisley's website http://www.bobdaisley.com. The Blizzard of Ozz pictures on his site rock and would have made the book so much better!!! It was a band that created these two classic albums, greed has gotten in the way of recognizing that fact.
Three, there is not much bonus material at all. The live concert is great but you get it with the remastered “Diary.” So in essence you get one tune as bonus material (the solo and vocal/guitar arrangement cannot be considered complete tunes). From what I understand, Bob Daisley has all kinds of recordings from the “Blizzard/Diary” sessions. If he and Kerslake would have been consulted (and paid, I hope) the release could have been 5-star.
In summary, let your friend by the box set and watch his/her DVD (even the documentary does not feature 2 of the 4 key players [minus Rhoads of course]). Disappointing for such an awaited release…
this is sweet just got it and i am literaly listening to it while writing this comment. i am on you cant kill rock and roll on the diary of a madman disc. AS IVE SAID BEFORE A LOT OF LIVE OZZY ALBUMS THIS JUST ADDS ON. BUT ICANT COMPLAIN BECAUSE ITS ROCK N ROLL AND DIARY OF A MADMAN IS IN MY OPINION OZZYS BEST ALBUM.
I wish I could. I bought the box set and they forgot to pack the CD's and DVD. I sent an email to MY DIRECT, and they tell me they dont know when they can send the DVD out to me. ANd to make matters worse, when they sent the CDs out to me they sent the old 2002 remasters!!!! I paid $150.00 for this box set that was incomplete. Horrible quality control!!!!!!
AS Randy Rhoads is one of my first and favorite guitar players, I was eagerly expecting this release. I hate to say thought that there is not much new stuff here. The main reason I ordered the box set was for the live video footage... duh! And it is incredible. The only footage I didn't have previously was the Palladium which is good stuff. The remaster job is a good one but the gaps between songs seem longer and any change from the originals is terrible as they are such classics.
Now for what I dislike about the set. Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake were huge parts of the first two albums. In fact, Blizzard of Ozz started as a band project, not an Ozzy solo outing becuase (almost) no one is the record business had any faith in Ozzy. Why then where their pictures intentionally removed from the photos in the coffee table book? WTF??? It seems greed got the best of Sharon when Blizzard took off and they canned those guys as to not share in songwriting royalties. Any wonder why Ozzy's first two albums are by far his strongest and best??? It has went downhill from there with the worst end result being the rerecording of the rythmn tracks on Blizzard/Diary. Again, WTF??? The fans spoke out LOUDLY about this and the remixes were scrapped.
If Bob Daisley had been consulted about the box set, it might actually contain some badass rarities. Bob has demo recordings of tunes as they were being worked out. His input on the recoding sessions would have been a great addition to the liner notes (hey there were no new liner notes... yet again, WTF???) as Osbourne submitted none (because he was too wasted to remember... bummer) and Daisley was actually hired before Rhoads. Because Daisley and Kerslake (rightly) sued over songwriting royalities,Sharon will have nothing to do with them and that hurts us... the Ozzy/Randy fans!
This box set could have been one of the best releases of this decade, but greed has made it not so. A tragedy for us the fans...
