OZZFEST--the original and iconic hard rock festival--returns in 2008 as a one-day stadium spectacular that teams OZZFEST founder and namesake Ozzy Osbourne (in his only U.S. concert appearance this summer) with MetallicA (marking their OZZFEST debut).
The full main stage lineup will also spotlight performances by Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Hellyeah, Jonathan Davis (Korn), Cavalera Conspiracy, Shadows Fall, Apocalyptica and In This Moment. Also scheduled on the main stage is a special all-star tribute to slain Pantera guitarist ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott. Second stage acts include Sevendust, Devildriver, Kingdom of Sorrow, Soilent Green, Witchcraft and Goatwhore. The Texas (third) stage—“an homage to the “many great metal bands that come from Texas,” says Sharon Osbourne--features The Sword, Drowning Pool and Rigor Mortis!

I'm actually very pleasantly surprised at the line-up. Not a Metallica fan but they've been on the top of my "get to know" list. and Hell Yeah gotta be killer live. And you KNOW Zakk is gonna be a part of the Dime tribute (sure hope Phil is part of that but I'm not holding my breath. But where the hell is Ozzy and BLS? An Ozzfest without either of them? Thats f***ing blasphemy/ But f*** I'm gonna see the greatest line-up in history with the Masters Of Metal tour of (Sabbath technically H&H, Judas Priest, and Motorhead). But I might change my mind and go to Ozzfest this year after seeing these bands.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)
I agree on the line up, pretty sweet, just a f***in shame we only get one show, one venue, one state, WTF????

totally agree Goat! and thats one hell of a Lineup! the best one in years IMO! and even if Ozzy is tired like you said he doesnt need to do every show. but man does this suck. but if there is an OZZFEST 09 i will still be there dont get me wrong. but like you said did Sharon ever drop the ball. and i am sure it wasnt all her but alot does fall at her feet.

Well what I don't get is this, ok Ozzy is wore out and wants a break, well thats great, thats all fine an dandy, but why does the show in Dallas have to be the only show period, only that one date??
Thats where I get confused???
I have said for a long time that Ozzy doesn't need to necessarily headline every single show, but none the less I still expected the show to go on. In other words Ozzy would maybe only show up and say hey once in a while, every few stops or so, but I never thought they wouldn't tour altogether.
My view on it all has always been that they should still have a all star line up and by doing so they would represent Ozzy throughout that years tour, still hitting all the usual stops that they always do, I really don't get this one stop, one show thing, its kinda of stupid if you ask me??
I think this is a big mistake on Ozzy and Sharon's part, they may want to rethink this idea a bit, its one thing for Ozzy not to headline each and every show, but none the less the show must, & should go on, with or without him. I have always hoped that when we do lose Ozzy that the institution known world wide as Ozzfest would still carry on in his name, and even after hes gone that we all could come together and celebrate his life by surrounding ourselves with all the bands that will surely want to be there. But if they wont do it when hes still alive, I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up that they will when hes dead an gone, now thats a bummer my friends!
A real honest to goodness all out f***in bummer!
