:o). I'm so excited to hear the new tunes I'm beside myself!
I can't seem to see you baby ... although my eyes are open wide ... but I know I'll see you once more ... when I see you, I'll see you on the other side
i have a question about the album scream.... there will be more songs on there that ozzy hasnt released right? or is it just let me hear you scream and thats is?
ozzy's music=awesome life
if it all went away, time would stop, and life would suck
"I don’t listen to new music so I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t really want to change from my roots to be like one of these new metal bands. I’ve met a lot of guys in the past who change. So I listen to young people’s advice, you know, but whether I take it or not is a different thing."
...who said that? why, it was ... Ozzy, in an interview posted Friday, May 21, 2010 (http://www.bravewords.com/news/139433)
Your just another pretty face
In a room full of whores
No you don't mean much
STUCK IN THE PAST, WATCH YOUTUBE MY @SS.
I CAN'T VEIW THE DAMNED VIDEO!
† Coolstreaky †
I was referring to the clothing styles, etc. Obviously the music is timeless.
You don't have to leave the lights on. I'm so used to being blind.
Not the 80's? My guitar students would disagree with you. Guitar Hero has basically "retaught" the next generation of future wanna-be guitar players to learn those flashy riffs. Every time I teach Crazy Train or Mr. Crowley to a 12 year old I smile with absolute pride. They make me believe nothing is impossible.
Ozzy's on stage clothing is very trivial. It's not changing the music or who he is as a person or artist. If that's how he wants to express himself, then who cares? It's about the music and the performance. It isn't the 80's anymore. It's not about flash anymore. It doesn't have to be. He's going to do what he wants to when he wants to, with nothing left to prove and no one left to impress. He's already done it all. If the black goth look is his thing, then what the hell...go for it!
Again, it's about the reality of the present. Ozzy doesn't have the vocal range he once had. He's said it himself a million times. To wish that he could somehow capture the old days is just silly. Go to YOUTUBE to hear and watch the classic performances with the classic stage wear.
You're entitled to your opinion, obviously. Whatever. I find it mind boggling that people still, 30 years later think that they're going to be getting another Diary of a Madman or that classic Randy sound. It's so far fetched, I find it hard to believe that people still continue to be disappointed when it doesn't sound like 1982. Enjoy the past for what it was and what it is. Continuously hoping that somehow those days will resurrect is obnoxious.
Also...the number of posts I have is irrelevant. I've been visiting this site since the day it opened.
Not sure if you've noticed, but Ozzy hasn't worn any "flair" on stage since the No Rest For The Wicked Tour...
wow, aren't you just opinionated on what people "should" feel. thank GOD Ozzy fans don't fit into little cookie cutter molds. someone like you might make them run for the hills. not this woman. in classic Ozzy language, here's the one finger salute sweetheart.
as for what he wears on stage - I care. so do alot of other people. you're someone who doesn't. great for you. doesn't change that i do, nor others do. neither stand on the issue is "obviously more superior." it's an opinion, and we're all entitled.
Ozzy's been criticized for going drab by fans. he went black when the drinking and pills left him comatose. people miss his signature flair and color. so F*n what. saying so doesn't imply we are stuck in the 70's.
we miss the non-black Ozzy. minus the 90's Goth, black nailpolish & silver finger, minus the spangles. minus the gumby black sneaker sh!t and running pants.
bring back the color Ozzy. black pants and a black shirt - oi. it's boring.
don't you wonder when hearing the clips if he's blending in with the boring crap that is being pumped out of the record industries @ss like gigantic turds nowadays? you know, by coming to sound like that garbage being passed off as "good" music just to sell a song and remain mainstream?
Ozzy has more talent in his little finger than ALL of that garbage your lips just pumped into the air stream. thank you, good night. Elvis has left the building.
making a statement of excitement in the theatre in his video and expressing a preference for hearing a different style of music than what seems to be coming - you really take that much issue? maybe you need to go into your bathroom and take your Haldol like a good boy. and do me a favor. don't come around making insinuations like everyone is in Depends because they enjoy classical flair in rock music, enjoy his wider range vocally from earlier years, or don't want a Goth figure anymore. have some respect for your elders son.
at 14 posts, you're awfully rude in your approach. your opinion smells, kind of like the wind that comes out when you lift one cheek after you've been unable to open up and let it rip.
Wow, you guys have some over the top assessments of something you've heard very, very little of. As far as what he wears on stage...who cares!?!?! He's 61 years old, he's not gonna go running around in spandex, glitter and the old fringed shirts. Let's be real, it's 2010 and he has dignity. If he's comfortable, then who cares.
It's amazing to me that 30 years later, people are STILL begging for that classic sound as if it was somehow unavailable to us anymore. Grab yourself the original Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman and rock out! Why does everybody need to hear Blizzard of Ozz 2 or Diary of a Madman 2010? It's not gonna happen.
Ozzy is a different man surrounded by different musicians, technology and producers. It's absolutely ridiculous to think somehow it'll just all come together again. Enjoy what he's doing or simply don't bother. How in denial can you possibly be?
UOF, if by "people" you mean this woman, stick it. I will never stop loving classical influence on guitar, nor wishing Ozzy would find another guitarist capable in that realm. You need to get off being bothered by other peoples opinion.
RREA, I totally agree with your reflections on the style on direction "Pretty soon you are reduced to cannons for drums and machine guns for guitar work." It's a reflection of who he has playing with him in the studio big time IMHO. I haven't liked the devolution into that in music today.
Long live Rock. Real Rock. The kind that Ozzy blazes the path with, and has for 40 years.
I am glad Ozzy is present and accounted for. While I enjoyed Black Rain very much I know Ozzy would still like to do what he is now ready to do- a concept album. He has often referred to the Beatles influence in his songs and their impact on his overall psyche. He has always wished for an album that was a complete story rather than fragments of them. Some of his b-sides were unjustly deleted off his albums in some cases. The songs on SCREAM do sound polished but I need to listen to all of them before making a final judgement on them. I don't think Ozzy's earlier solo work is gone forever. It is just buried deep inside of him. As a word of caution, if you are easy going in the studio your music may lack the self criticism it desparately needs to breathe more openly. I am not crazy about the constant auto-tune techniques used on albums these days. They are somewhat gimmicky to me.
As far as stage shows, when Ozzy is ready to finally do a concept album he needs to put on a production like Diary Of A Madman. I totally agree with f_darkbladeus when it comes to Ozzy's outfits. Some have equated his look with a "jogger in black" rather than as the old school rock star. Whatever that means. Gus is a terrific player but I get the feeling he was there just to deliver the chops rather than to bear his soul on this album. What you get at the end of the day is a lot of flash but little in the way of a statement. When Ozzy is quick to dismiss comparisons to Randy or Zakk I know Ozzy is still not convinced of the overall direction his albums are taking. Let's go darker...wait a minute...now heavier... You get the idea. Pretty soon you are reduced to cannons for drums and machine guns for guitar work. I am a guitar teacher so I see lots of various styles on a daily basis. I have even "tried" to teach stuff like Through The Fire And Flames. Most of the time I am chucking at how speed in those cases simply overtakes the substance of what music is meant to do; reach the soul. Sure we may all have ADD but our music shouldn't encourage that. Anyway, I wish Ozzy the best on this album. Will I buy it? Ozzy always has something to say so you know I will.
The clips in that video were f***in amazing!!! Let It Die sounded like the s***!!!!! can't wait!!! Nice work Ozz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The songs samples sounded great, in my opinion. People need to stop asking for Randy's sound. Randy has passed on and that sound is gone. No use in trying to revive it. Gus sounds really good and I'm excited as hell for this record!
I can't view the video... Bummer. :(
and this ~
I miss Blizzard, but especially most of all Diary of a Madman and some of his mid-career stuff (No Rest, No More Tears) too. I miss that sound big time. NOBODY does that sound like Ozzy did. I stand in line with my candle for that stuff too. Ozzy really drifted from his style in the 80's and early 90's into a much darker, harder, more contemporary metal sound which to me was disappointing to, though I am the LAST soul to say Down to Earth and Black Rain are not of the highest calibre of music and that I don't love them too.
I miss Hellraiser, Road to Nowhere, SATO, Tonight, Breaking All the Rules, Fire in the Sky, and most of all Diary. They aren't songs he often plays...we hear Crazy Train like he said way too much. Ozzy isn't just that song, you know?
But I hear you. I miss that sound too. It would be beautiful if Gus G could "get" that sound, tone down the technical elements and go for the fluid and ethereal like Randy did, the more melodic and beautiful and classic, for a future album of course.
well...here's my post from the site ~
Not as much of the songs as I had hoped (did we actually hear Soul Sucker? or just Gus doing his thing?) but I did like what I saw and heard so far. Ozzy is so clear headed and focused, excited and you know something? He seems in his element again. Like he's getting his sh!t together in his head.
What he says about taking risks with music, that's cool. I think he's always put out cutting edge stuff. And it's ALWAYS amazing. I don't get a real good sense of the album, but how much can a clip with 2 or 3 seconds of a song give anyways. I can say this ... from what I see of Ozzy and the band, I am excited, big time. I think this is going to be one hell of a show this year.
Not to slight Zakk but his stage persona was getting a bit too tied up in himself. You can see the shift from early years to more recent ones, and it wasn't a good one IMHO. He plays so many of the solo's and riffs that have spoken to my heart over the years, truly AMAZING STUFF, and is one HOT viking man...but honestly? He seemed like he was not part of the band anymore but was "Ozzy, and Zakk." I can't explain what I mean.
I am a HUGE fan of Zakk so please don't think I am insulting him because I am just trying to say what I see having shifted.
It is good that there is new blood in the band. Where being in the moment can be seen again instead of what had become the status quo. The tiny clip of Gus didn't give me the greatest sense of the man...his solo kind of got a bit stiff for me towards the end. But what do I know, it's all out of context.
The theatre (makeup and stuff) - yea baby!!! I have been hoping BIG TIME that Ozzy'll come out again and put on a freaking show like he used to. Those black pants and shirt combo's with spangles get old you know? I want to see a rock star, a performer, and Ozzy? He is the master of them all ... the quintessential entertainer.
I miss his COLOR...the fringe shirts, Diana Ross sparkled robe. I miss Ozzy alive and aware and performing...and it for DAMNED sure looks like this year we're going to see him hit the stage and put on a great show.
Rock on Ozzy Osbourne. Your the best. Hats off to you sir.
I'm going to check it out. Then I will reply there and here what I think. Thanks ozzyhead!
