Goat Jason will never play for ozzy again he didnt want to re-sign with him in early 04. Blasko is doing a kick ass job anyway
Man that sucks with Jason, I hope he recovers well and gets back in there, I would love to see him with Ozzy, shame that accident had to happen, man it really threw a kink in Jason's plans I think, I cant help but feel sorry for him, what a bummer!
As for Dave, oh ya I see both sides, I mean I totally feel for Dave and what he went through with being let go from Metallica, as any successful or striving musician should. And as for loving the early Megadeth years, man those years kicked so much ass!
I had a friend, more of an acquaintance really named Kevin; he was in a group called Anacrusis from right here in St. Louis, they were really doing well for themselves there for a while, even got to tour with Megadeth. I asked Kevin what he thought of Mustaine, he said he was a really nice, and very soft spoken articulate guy. which Kevin found kind of ironic considering this is the same Dave we see in all those music videos looking like a angry, demonic mad man, lol. Anyway he also said after a particular show he took them all out for steak dinner, I think Kevin was in heaven, after all kind of hard not to be star struck when your sitting across the table eating a steak dinner with Dave f***in Mustaine, I wish I could have been there, lol.
Here is a what wiki has on Anacrusis, I figure you may want to check them out, they were in my opinion kind of ahead of the whole progressive metal thing, let me know what you think of them as well.

heres what wiki has on him as of now
Injury
On October 23, 2006 Newsted injured his shoulder while attempting to catch a falling bass amp head. The accident resulted in a torn anterior labrum in his left shoulder and a rotator cuff and biceps tear in the right. He was scheduled for immediate surgery, and is now undergoing a lengthy rehabilitation process.

Dave is a phenomenal guitar player and was awesome with metallica, as well as later with Megadeth, personally I would love to see Dave and the guys do something together again, and it doesn't have to be called metallica, what do you think???.
Megadeth & Metallica is all I pretty much ate & breathed for years bro, and both bands are heroes of mine, despite my disagreeing with what they have decided to do creatively, in other words I gotta give them the credit that is due.
What was your thoughts with the whole Lars and Mustaine interview, sit down in the movie with Dave actually breaking down in tears while explaining his feelings over being fired from metallica? To me Lars looked like his ass was on a hot plate, lol.
Personally I understand Lars and James decision to let him go, and Kirk was a great replacement if you ask me. I have always felt Kirk doesn't get enough credit, well he does get more today, but in the early years Kirk was never really made all that big a fuss over, I am happy to see him finally get his due, Kirk has written some of the most all time greatest metal riffs, Iommi worthy if you ask me, lol...
So what is going on with Jason, I heard he was doing a project with voi vod, as well as doing his thing in his own band, but thats the last I have heard, and whats up is he ever going to play with Ozzy, or has that been scratched, do you know anything???

Bro I have seen the movie, of course I had to watch it, come on its Metallica, lol.
As for what I got from watching it, well I noticed several things, for one Lars and James obviously never recovered from losing Cliff, understandable when you realize he was so much more than just a bass player within the band, he was pretty much the band, Cliff wrote a large majority of the music, as well as arranged it, and it is painfully obvious in retrospect. And before you freak out on me putting Cliff on such a high pedestal, please remember that the band line up while they were in L.A consisted of James, Lars, Mustaine, and their then bass player McGovney. When Lars and James decided to do away with Mustaine replacing him with Kirk, and as well dismissing Mcgovney due to their belief he didn’t contribute enough within the band, they went to San Francisco in order to sway Cliff into joining the band, Burton declined initially of course, but later said he would join the band if Lars and them would make the move to San Francisco. So right there we have the fact that James and Lars wanted Cliff within the band so much so that they went out of their way, relocated in fact in order to play & make music with him, so that says a whole lot if you ask me. I also believe that Cliff, just as Iommi did within Sabbath played kind of the older brother, father role within the band. In other words Cliff called a majority of the creative shots, with Lars and James tagging along for the ride. Now I am not bagging on Lars and James, not at all, but as a fellow musician I understand that there are members within a band that kind of not so much contribute more, but they have a profound influence on the over all direction that the band may, or may not take. For example look at what Dime and his brother were doing with Pantera before Phil’s joining of the band, there is a huge difference between the two personas both known as Pantera, and it obviously had very little to do with Phil’s over all talent, but more so to do with his creative influence within the band.
So now we have James and Lars after the bus accident, and I am quoting Lars of his recollection of what James screamed that night after the accident. James was to have said, “What are we going to do know?” Now I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a guy who is a wee bit worried if you ask me, and why is he so worried, because his prized creative colleague in no longer there to show the creative way. Now with that said we move forward to the music that they generated post Burtons death, and there is an obvious difference when we go there, no substantial argument can be made that disproves the obvious situations that transpired with the lose of Cliff.
Another thing that I couldn’t help but notice is how Lars and James threw up a protective wall after Cliff’s death, noticeable by how they treated Jason within the band. Jason himself has stated many times that he never got that close to either of them, or at least not close enough for them to allow him to have any real creative input in the band, which ultimately brought about his leaving the band to pursue more fulfilling creative outlets.
Another fact is the decision to hire Bob Rock, after they in my opinion had successfully delivered us Justice for all. To this day I am confused as to why they went with a guy that had produced for bands such as Bon Jovi, Skid Row, and Motley Spew, where is there a collation between them and thrash metal is beyond f***in me bro, do you understand my surprise, my disgust with that call, if not bro, you really, really should.
So this is why I stated my beliefs on why St. Anger, hell almost anything post Burton has pretty much been a disappointment for me. If you cannot understand the position we original fans, followers of Metallica must be in, then I ask who can? I mean if you love real heavy music, if you love the whole creative integrity of it all, then you must be able to respect us old school fans for feeling they way we most obviously do.
Peace bro

Goat...best album of metallica's with Jason on it is garage days revisited, after that it was all down hill for me, note outlaw for me bro, for me, lol...
i cant stop laughin im damn near in tears! agree. i dont hate St Anger its OK. not every band can have a "white album" all the time. i think jason was not used fully and thats some of it , but Bob Rock gets 5% James and Lars get the rest! it is their "MACHINE"! but the movie goes into all the problems w/ the band and s*** watch it. to kind of play off of that, thats what scares me about Nick(BLS) startin his side band Speed X. i understand why but still dont like it but will support it none the less. hes a "BROTHER"! same thing w/ jason when he wanted to do his ecobrain project. no one wants to play what someone else wrote. you want to express yourself and if you cant do it in the band you are in than why not do your own thing.

Now see everybody just hates st, anger, and don't get me wrong I fully understand as to why, but ironically I found with st. anger that they were actually trying to recapture a part of their roots with that album. It was faster, had more riff transitions, it was definitely far more aggressive than past efforts, but yet something was missing now wasn't it?
I think I have the correct answer as to why st. anger piped so much, let me know if you all agree as well. I believe it was due to the fact that there was no f***in bass, thats why. I couldn't hear it, it was so mixed down that I was thinking I was listening to the white stripes or something, it was really sad I thought, considering they once had housed one of the greatest bass player to have ever lived, to have played metal. If you was to add some bass, thickin that album up a bit I believe it wouldn't sound near as f***ed up as it does, and what Lars and James were even thinking when they mixed that album down is way beyond me.
So as I went and compared Rob to Cliff in one of my earlier posts, ya I believe Rob could be a great thing for them, that is if they only let him contribute and do his job within the band. I have always felt sorry for Jason Newsted formerly of Flotsam and Jetsam, by the way another great old band I was listening to way back then. I remember when I heard Jason was filling Cliffs shoes, I was like this is f***in great, he is the guy to have if you want to keep the metallica machine moving forward, but due to Lars, and James egos, and control issues within the band, well poor Jason in my opinion never got to really show his s***, to me the best album of metallica's with Jason on it is garage days revisited, after that it was all down hill for me, note outlaw for me bro, for me, lol...
Anyway having Rob is a definite improvement over having gay ass Bob Rock play bass on your album, Bob Rock, now thats a real life f***in choad for ya!
Helter_Skelter = Bob Rock maybe??? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well I have a high regard for Rob, I was a huge Suicidal fan back in the day, and Rob stomped much f***in ass! As Geezer Rob uses only his fingers & no guitar pick, the same can be said of Cliff Burton, & Les Claypool, & because of that fact I tend to put Rob right up there with them, maybe that’s biased of me, I don’t really know?
Since I also am a bass player I find it hard not to think highly of Rob, I always thought he was amazing, as well as being a larger than life personality that almost always took the dominate role on stage, strange you all don’t seem to see that, I am kind of disappointed in the all of you, this is Rob were talking about here, kind of a legend in his own right????
The only thing I can suggest to all of you is to go back and listen to some suicidal tendencies, then maybe you all will have a better appreciation of what Rob is capable of doing, I have to say I am kind of shocked at the amount of disrespect he has been getting around here, have to say I wouldn’t have expected it at all from fellow Ozzy fans, I am shocked to say the very least.

eh...there are better ones out there.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)
Rob kicks azz, their iznt alot of guitarists that stand out in my mind. I have my favz,he haz a special style, that cannot be denied???

In a platonic sense trust me rose, lmao!
Rob is one bad mutha f***er, to say he is any less than those you cared to mention, well is kind of unfair, any real musician has his or her trait, or sound that makes them special, so I cant say I love one anymore than the other exactly, instead they are just the ones that stand out among the many in my personal rogue gallery of musicians.
