Oddly enough, growing up listening to this song, I like Ozzy's version MUCH better. It surprised me to hear that he was going to cover this song and it surprised me even more to hear his version of it. He didn't screw around with the song much, left it intact, that's nice.
In My LIfe
This song does strange things to me... This is the only version of In My Life that I've ever cared to listen to more than once, though. Sometimes it makes me wanna cry and other times it makes me smile. Another odd one for Ozzy to cover. Odd but nice.
Mississippi Queen
Nice new voice for a golden oldie of a song. This is another I've heard since I was young and I say again that I like Ozzy's version...the others are just worn out because the radio stations play them to death.
Go Now
How can you take a slow, mellow tune and make it slow and metallic strong? Ask Ozzy. He's the man with the answer to that and it comes through marvelously in this song.
Woman
Ok, I didn't like this song to start with and I can respect that this song could have inspired Ozzy BUT Ozzy's not indebted to anyone in my humble opinion. Sorry, I feel this was a platitude of gratitude that was meant more for his wife than the general public. It's by no means a terrible song, I just didn't like the song anyway.
21st Century Schizoid Man
This one just has to grow on you, methinks. Not one of my daily favorites but damn good anyway, and especially if you're looking for that 'different' feel/sound for a change.
All the Young Dudes
Good version, just not my cup of tea. Ozzy's voice is great in this one and the music is OK but I prefer other songs on the CD to this one.
For What It's Worth
I like For What It's Worth, hey, gimme a break, I'm a bit of a hippy! Ozzy's version does justice to this song and his voice fits perfectly with the feel and the sound of the music. I listen to this one more than most people probably.
Good Times
Not going there, you'll just have to make up your own mind on this one. If you liked the song before, chances are you're going to like it here, too.
Sunshine of Your Love
Yep, this is a good song. If you like Ozzy's voice you will like this song.
Fire
This song has been conquered and offered up on a silver platter for our delectation...
Working Class Hero
Oh, hell! What can I say about this song? I love this song and listen to it more than the other songs. Depending on my mood I'll put this on repeat indefinitely. I also have the Lennon version, also. Ozzy's version just gives me chills and hits somewhere deep inside. Ozzy's version of Working Class Hero just means more to me, I can relate - just as I'm certain Lennon's version touched Ozzy in some way to give inspiration. Good on you Ozzy!
Sympathy for the Devil
Fun, fun, fun! Never thought I'd hear this song done by Ozzy but I'm certainly glad I did!
If you liked any of the previous versions of these songs but feel like they've been played to death or done to death by the same voices and sounds, then you'll like this CD. There are a few, very few indeed, that I don't personally care for, but that's going to happen with any CD. To each his own. It's worth the money unless you're some anal-retentive type that resists any sort of change and/or don't believe in showcasing our differences instead of squashing them -- but then, if you're that type of person it's likely that you don't even know who Ozzy is let alone call yourself a fan!
