Ye Olde Veg Plot

As you know I have a little green fingers.

The runner Beans are coming on, and the Sun Flowers at each end of the run are nice and sturdy now!

I got to dig up the onions and potatoes, then weed the plot

The gooseberries are coming to an end, so I feel a pie coming on! On home leave next week(?) so I might just bake a pie!

Marrows/cucumbers are slow to grow in the greenhouses, and the tomatoes are not much better

WE NEED SOME prolonged SUN

Ah the salad tray (gutering) has been a little dispointing! The herbs basically failed. Possible over watering with NO sun!. Anyway, the coriander is sprouting well, and the Little Gem Lettuce is coming along. The Spring (Salad) onions are really slow to show!

the trench, is slowly draining so I will have to dig the center out, and apply compost! Then, I can plant out the beetroot, Sprouts, and Leeks!

Replies

The garden is dormant at the minute, BUT hey give it time, I can plant my new PLUM tree, by my two new bird boxes

3 cheers for face book! no need to write just shoot and upload! easy peasey!

Ye Olde veggie plot doing wonders!

The lawns are looking like a jungle, So they wil have to be CUT!!!! The second phaze of the rockery will should have the next phaze applied tomorrow! Roots and bulbs to be removed, and sand dug intothe front half! next time I go to the warehouse it wil be more bags of compost! So at least two 70 lt sacks will be dug into it! So the Rosemary bush will go at the back, and suckulants at the front I will also have to put a splash of colour in somewhere! may be marigolds?

Then the one corget has died, and I will plant a tomato in its BIG pot.

THEN I will have to remove stray grass, weeds, etc from the veg plot!

THEN somewhere along the line I must Skype my Friends! Please take note!

Then to bed for 2100 BST as I have to start another two weeks of 12 hour days! wonderful! I just can not wait! At least it will cover the service on the auto! Merc's are ot cheap to run! hahaha try getting a good mechanic, as I have! Mind you, it will still coast a lot, BUT at least I will have peace of mind for a long time to come! Merc wasnt £600 to service a saloon, so what for a VAN?

Surprisingly my garden which we planted late this year is doing very well in the monsoon weather we're having. I was worried that planting now would be toooo much water, not so. The little things are thriving with all that water. I hear you about the prolonged sun. It's not been very sunny long here. Mostly it is so humid and muggy when the sun's out.

The runner beans are coming off a treat, The cucumbers have started to be harvested, and the resy of the crops are coming along.

Cleared the center of the rockery, and after composting, planted it out with alsorts of Lavender, and TODAY, I put in 4 Goldern Rods. I believe that they produce a goldern flower on the top of a spike!

So who is up to cut the lawns?

To think that the Gimp looked me up on some saterlite site, and could not find the house! I told him look for the greenhouses, and HE SAID, I could not see them due to the greenery around my locality!

Too much Cles des Ducs (Armanagac) and a drop of port called C ockburns! Seriously, that is what it is called!

Now it is really getting close to Beer O Clock!

Well the Olde Veggies plot has produced Runner Beans, the early Onions have come out, we have cucumbers being harvested, and the Marrows are starting to show!

HOWEVER I NEED ALL OF YOUR HELP HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Bee population of the world is under threat, due to their expoitation, as they are NOT allowed to partatke in their own honey!!!! Big Business or WHAT. The suits feed them on sugary water which is a very poor substitute indeed. SO WHAT I WANT FROM YOU ALL, no matter where you live, is plant FLOWERS, to get the bees in!

SO COME ON, NO BEES NOT POLINATION OF CROPS NO FOOD, you get the gist!

It has drizzeled for the last few days, with a few actual rain showers, so we should have some good ground water!

There are apples on the tree, sadly we only had one serving of Gooseberries, as i pruned them back justa touch tooooooooo much last year!

The runner beans have started to crop, and the cucumbers willnot be far behind. I must go out and buy some tomato compost and pot up HOW MANY tomato plants, and then feed like a fool possessed, to bring them on! At least they are spread out and watered twice daily.

The Leeks seem to be holding their own, along with the cabages and Sprouts! Christmas Day without Sprouts, shameful! Did I transplant the beetroot toooooo late? we shall see

The sun flowers on the been canes are not as big as last year BUT at least they are flowering along with the Sweet Peas. The way the Worlds bee populations, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE plant some flowers.

Due to Facebook photo upload, I have several sets of the Veggie Plot to upload! Then again, they have messed up that facility!

I had a wash and shave after my evening meal, and took a strole. Rang the bell twive and no response! I said to the little girl playing with what appeared to a recogniabale football, and she stared at me as I walked down the drive, that as no one had answered the door, I would send a VAT Invoice. Believe me I can legally do that! So I arrived back home to find that the Gimp had hung his elf up in his cave, and decided to take a few more pictures of todays handy work. Next thing, I hear a voice and it is the folk from the bottom of the garden. After a very civil chat, All I have to do is tel them how much the glass costs, and ALL will be hunky Dorey! Thank F for that!

Yep, the Sprouts went in, The cabbages went in, The leeks went in, a few replacement Runner beans and Sun flowers and Sweet peas went in, cut three lawns, weeded and watered , and watered, and watered, and then the kids at the bottom of the garden put a football throught their holey fence and smashed a pane of glass in the big greenhouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to have a bite to eat, calm down, and go around and ask for a replacement pane of glass, and that they replace their holey fence!

WATCH THIS SPACE!

wen winter passes here i will be at it again hopefully i will not feel like this either

Yep it is time to transplant the cabbages, Sprouts, Beet Root, and possible some spare runner beans onto the front plot! Oh for the joys of having so little spare time, and such a lot to do!

wEEDED THE FRONT GARDEN THIS AFTERNOON AFTER WORK/WEEKLY SHOP! THEN A LITTLE IN THE BACK GARDEN, AND NOW IT IS RAINING!!!!

its cool andy you do have a green thumb and this past season my thumb went a wrong colour oh that dont sound right ,,ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Potted on countless Tomatoes today, and 4 cucumbers and 2 marrows. Cheated on the Cucumbers and Marrows as the seeds failed and I hade to BUY them! At least they are in their final pots, unlike the tomatoes.

Transplanted some Leeks after clearing part of the garden! Of I wish face book would let me up load even more Garden photo's!!!!

I can't seem to see you baby ... although my eyes are open wide ... but I know I'll see you once more ... when I see you, I'll see you on the other side

So Far so good, no SLUG evidense! Give them a day or two, they should establish themselves

--

Planted out 50 Runner Beans, 10 Sun Flowers, and 10 Sweet peas. I've been watering them in for a while. I hope that the slugs do not decide to feed, let alone the Pideons. Then again, I have a fish shaped wind sock blowing in the wind, and I have also strung out a line and hung a couple of freeby CD roms, from AOL. They twist and turn in the breeze, and hopefully scare off the pidgeons! SO AOL does have a use!

--

Ground tooo wet to play, and they still forcast frost, so I will not be putting out the runner beans

Only the Runner Beans have grown with vigor, everything else is very slow

am busy tying up loose ends cos we sold our business...but is going into another one hopefully more lucrative and less time intensive so am plannning on heaps more time amongst my weed patch...to find some lovely soil and now we have a tennant horse in the paddock free manure to compost...Yeah time to actually get somewhere . We going into winter good time to start.
--
cecilky

Yeah right!

Had to buy some sweet peas as we only have one from a packet of seeds. Could be the mice eating them, so must buy a Shot gun, no must be sensible a mouse trap!

These sweet peas will be trained up the bean canes to help the bees polinate the Runner Beans and extend the crop!

Sowed some cucumber sees the other morning before work!

propane worked a treat!

Must rake the bean trench level and errect the canes the weekend!

Cabbages coming on, and I do not mean any any of you lot hahahaha, then the sprouts, beetroot, leeks. The onions I planted straight into the ground are begining to show!

The Runner beans are coming on a strom, and I was given, are now potted up.

The Cosmos, Marigolds, sweet peas are barely trying to show. AND the Tomatoes, could be better toooooooooooo. Mind you we have had several days of nice sun shine. Tried my weed (plants that you do not want to grow where they are!) burner. So the weeds that I missed digging up have now been burnt to a crsip!

That sort of stuff does not interest me. At this rate I will have the easter Holiday to dig the plot over, dig the runner bean trench and weed (remove unwanted plants)

I did plant three lines of Onions last week, some little coriander, gem letuce and spring (salad) onins in the grrenhouse.

Will have to start off the tomatoes and beans soon
