hmm...not implying you personally saw him (why did you think that?), just that he was there. oh wait, on another thread you say a day after you posted this one that you did see photos of him at Arezzo. [ http://www.ozzy.com/forum/ozzy-holidays-italy ]. never mind.

anyways, it's a major bummer him being THAT close but you didn't get to see him. i kind of felt that way with the Jimmy Kimmel show that got cancelled. majorly disappointed. i would have had to drive about 1700 miles round trip to see him on that one, but every mile I'd have been saying "f*** YEA!!!"

I can't seem to see you baby ... although my eyes are open wide ... but I know I'll see you once more ... when I see you, I'll see you on the other side

Like I said, make sure to always take a journey back to the bands you passed on once before in life, every once in a while you go back & your like what the f*** was I thinking, these guys are f***in great! lol

Dear Scapegoat,

Again, you crack me up. I may be a deadhead, but, I'm also a listener and music lover of different genres, including the darkside. I grew up in the midwest and it was either hardrock, pop, or countrywestern. I had friends who listened to Black Sabbath and Ozzy a lot of the time while we were in high school. You and I are about the same age; I'm 44. I love the Beatles, The Stones, Jimi H., Eric C., Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, the Allmans, blues artists, reggae etc, etc., Dylan is a great song writer, but, I agree that his voice is quite irritating to listen to. I said before, you are a man who is not afraid to speak his mind. But, I've noticed that sometimes you make assumptions that are DEAD wrong. Sorry for the pun. Check out Gov't Mule doing Sweet Leaf and War Pigs. I think you might like it.

Huh? I remember hearing the rumor Ozzy and Mountain were covering Bob Dylan. As a Dylan fan I know the song Masters Of War and it is pretty good. Can't imagine Ozzy doing it though. I'll be searching for it.

No new posts since July. Seems like there was a "Dead-head" war of sorts...I almost forgot which site I was on after reading the thread. Music is music. Strings, percussion, winds, pianos, voices play to our own preference. Argue and debate all you want. You're probably not going to change the mind of an individuals fancies.

But like one great man said, "As long as two sides are still talking, there is still peace." Jimmy Carter....Peace, man, that's where it's at.

I happened by because I was going through my library of tunes and happened by "War Pigs." I had not listened to it in a while. But, once again, just like many of the 70's Vietnam-era songs, I found it completely relevant to our currant situation. I am fairly young (40yo) but remember the tunes playing on our "Hi-fi" in the early 70's. My aunts and uncles were playing John Prine, Country Joe McDonald, Bobby D, Gil Scott-Herron, Joni and Joan among many others.

My older cousins, however, were playing Airplane and Tull, Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd. I remember listening to "Floyds" Atom Heart Mother" for the first time and asking one of my cousins, "what's that?" She said, "They have a cow on their album cover, they can do whatever the hell they want."

Shameless to say, I have not heard Ozzie's "Masters of War" but am quite familiar with Dylan's version. Whether Ozzie's version is a remake or a tribute is neither here nor there. Some things need to be resaid. In my humble opinion, Ozzy could not say it better by just performing "War Pigs" again...and bring home the fact that history repeats itself...I'm pretty sure the outcome of this war will be the same as the one he originally sang about.

Isn't it interesting that some of us older folks can apply one song to two wars. I imagine there are folks older than us that can apply some of their songs to three or four.

War is war. Nothing changes but the geography.

Hey Goat, Please don't bring back that part of the seventies and those two "LDSers". If I could photoshop their pics into this pic and post it on here, I would. But, this says it all. LOL.

Barbaros Ghost what are you cracking up at I am not sure of??? I wasn't throwing insult by saying dead head, in fact thats what most dead fans are referred to as. An just as you I am very open minded, I am located in the Midwest, and I hear ya on the whole hard rock, pop, or country western thing. I guess if I was to fall into anyone of those category's it would be hard rock, but I listen to almost every jondra of music you can think of.

I can go from Mozart to slayer all within a few minutes, I have many moods, and much music in which to accompany them all by lol.

I just want you to realize I am not jabbing you about liking them, I am just saying I don't get the dead, and I am only stating why I don't like them, if you enjoy the dead thats great. Myself I just don't find anything in their music that grabs me, not near as much as all the other bands from that era & time frame in rock. I would much rather listen to artists like Frank Zappa, Bob Marley, or here is going way back, Dean Martin.

As I said earlier I always go back to those bands that I have passed on for whatever reason, thinking I may hear, or feel something I may have missed before, & the dead are definitely one of those bands I have went back to many, many times. So far each time I have walked away thinking whats the big freakin deal here people, I just don't hear it??? lol

I am not trying to sway your mind, I am intelligent enough to realize that everyone has their own taste in music, after all one mans Paul McCartney may be another mans John Lennon. lol

Now as Paul would sing, Let it be!

Peace Ghost!

<strong>Currently, I am a big Gov't Mule fan. Warren Haynes is one of the hardest working musicians on the scene. He guests with numerous bands in the studio and on the road. Each Mule Show has a different setlist, no two are alike. I'm into a bunch of various musicians, including Ozzy, but, the Mule is a great show to take in. Shows usually run two and a half to to three hours with two sets. Later, BG.</strong>

Dear OzzysRose,

I found the picture by doing a google search, I believe it was on msnbc or yahoo, which are public domain sites.. Secondly, what specific rules am I breaking? I have never slandered, cussed out, or threatened anybody on this board. It's a free country, I can post any picture I want especially since I found it on a public domain site. Where is it written that I have to have a picture of Ozzy or myself on my profile? Thanks for the advice, but, I didn't ask for it.
Furthermore, this message should give you a clue about public domain sites and discussion boards. Your past is quite interesting in the yahoo group titled "evilpriestandmaudsmadlandofozz · Land of Ozz", Kathy Jean, Nina, Coco, Rose, TallicaRose or whatever you call yourself at the time. Would you like for me to cut and paste what some of the members thought of you?

Hey my name is Seattle Slew. I just found out that there is a horse in this site by the name of Barbaro? Let me ask you a question Barbaros's Ghost.

Did you ever win a Triple Crown?

How many sons and daughters do you have?

I used to rock out to Ozzy and Black Sabbath all the time in my stall. Actually it was Black Sabbath that gave me the endurance to become a true champion. I won the Crown. You won a Derby right? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm doesn't a horse win that every year?

With much love Seattle Slew

Shall a horse come along whose deep amber eye strikes terror into the hearts of those who dare battle with him, look deep into his/her pedigree. Look for the name of a one-of-a-kind horse who lends to his kin a fierce tenacity, a will of iron, a look of eagles. Look and know that Slew is still very much with us!

I ask for the link to download it with money i don't get song without pay for it !I forgot to writh it ^^Yes if you don't pay for it that's an insult for him.

I'll go by the princess of darkness if I want to. :-) Why are you so obsessed with me and my past? Do you not have anything better to do than to hide behind your PC and stalk people? That is against the law. Did you know that? Man you must be extremely jealous of me. I am flattered but this is really getting old. I don't think that Ozzy really likes having people on his site that hate his gutts. Just a thought....... By the way... Thanks for putting up a post that will be of use to me.... It is going to be interesting to find out what the owners of your so called horse and jockey think of you using them to commit stalking crimes on the Internet...... ;-) I know who you are as well.

This thread has done nothing for my love & respect for horses, but has instead done just the opposite, I now only want to see a horse when its off to the glue factory, or in my dogs food bowl, I hate f***in horses now, thanks ya bunch of sphincters!

I bet Mr. Ed is spinning in his grave right now! Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa...............

Masters of War is an awesome Bob Dylan song. The lyrics are quite relevant to the current situation that our country is going through. I haven't heard Ozzy's version and I'm not sure I want to, yet, I'll give it a try. I'm going to have to give props to a band that is named after an animal that performs this song quite well. Ratdog! Long Live the Grateful Dead!

Love,

Barbaro's Ghost

i generally dont get in the middle of other people's feuds but i'll make an exception, this one time. To BG, if you are here only to gain pleasure out of totally confusing the daylights out of people and hurting people's feelings just because you think you can, then i suggest you make your home elsewhere because you have no place here. You are obviously not wanted here and are not welcome, so please for the sake of the others who are happy and harmonious here move on....we are friends here, we share a common love of ozzy here, and we mosty agree on the same points of view....and when we dont, we discuss them, civilly without resorting to making anyone feel stupid with long confusing and cryptic language.....please, go away, and dont respond to me, just go. I and the others here who are friends and just want to chill together, appreciate it.

Mamma.... The owners of that horse have been contacted. This has been going on as you know for months. I have been stalked by a woman that is using their horse and a famous jockey to hide behind. You all know the drill because you have all gone down this road with me. I don't think it is going to be funny when they find out that she is using their horse and jockey to slander and stalk me.....not to mention the slandering words that she is using on others on this board.........

Goodbye to Romance ----- Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on. ;-)

No need to apologize, I am secure within my opinion of the Dead. Jerry can shrug his shoulders all he wants to, for what Jerry thinks means nothing to me, & why should it? I am 40 years old now, and throughout my lifetime I have tried multiple times to understand the dead mania, & I have to say I still don’t get all the hoopla. I have always been under the position that the only thing the Dead accomplished is to successfully accumulate every drug addict on the know planet, and then convince them all to congregate in the name of peace, love & their so called music. For me I suspect it was to simply congregate in the name of getting all torn up, but that’s just my outlook on it all.

I think that they could have played anything to those crowds and they would have loved it, hell they could have not played anything at all and most people at them shows would have been non the wiser. I think they had some amount of talent, but as for awesome song writing I have to say no, & as for being true inventors, or the creators of something new & pioneering, well the Dead failed to do any of those things as far as I am concerned.

As for understanding Ozzy, I am fully aware that there is still a fair amount of people that don’t get the whole Ozzy, hard rock thing. And that is fine by me; in fact I prefer that!

I am fully aware that we all march to the beat of our own drum. But to under estimate Ozzy, or to say he isn’t talented, or that Ozzy did not do something special, something rare in the music industry is completely & utterly absurd. So in my mind even if you hate the man, you can’t refute his achievements.

As for Jerry, he was an ok guitar player, nothing phenomenal, simply ok. Jerry as an originator, or pioneer, none of these things did he achieve in my book? In my eyes Jerry did what he knew, and he played it safe for the most part. And as for the Dead’s music, it is mediocre at best, & I have already seen its decline in popularity since Jerry’s death, much to my enjoyment I must confess, for I have always thought of him as being nothing but a shameless over rated artist, and musician!

Dear Scapegoat,

Well noone can claim that you aren't a man who is afraid to express himself. Although, I think you are wrong about Jerry and The Dead. We'll have to agree to disagree, I guess. On another note, here are the lyrics to Dylan's Masters of War written in 1963. Pretty relevant to current events and this administration, don't you think.

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

goat you think the dead are over rated! i thought i was the only one. the dead suck.i dont get it. same w/ elvis and the beatles. but that is because i wasn't around for their boom. but i will not deny what both did for rock and roll and the bands that followed.

Hey Rose I have an idea, I might start to actually watch horse racing if they would only make it more like the Roman gladiator s***, but obviously with a more modern theme.

I think they should arm all those dwarf jockeys with machine guns, mounted on either side of the horses neck, like turrets. And all the Jockeys would wear spear pointed tips on the tips of their boots, and if thats not enough, there would be a sharp shooter up in a eagles nest taking pop shots at all the jockeys as they tried to make their way around the track to the finish line!

Yup if I ran horse racing it would be a new sport all its own!

Ahhhhhhhhhh, I can see it now!

I am joking of course, just a wee little! lol

I would have made an excellent Roman! Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa

I agree with you that yes it fits the current mood of what’s going on in the middle east, of course back in the 60's with Vietnam being a huge source of music inspiration, there are many awesome old songs that embrace today’s current position, stance on the war, one of them being “BLACK SABBATH”.

I think Dylan is a great writer, musician, although I am not a huge fan of his voice, I personally just cant get past it. I kind of find that frustrating, considering I do find myself enjoying many artists that do have very peculiar singing styles, for example I enjoy Neil Young a whole lot, he is one of my all time favorites.

Now I am sorry if I got a little frenzied with you about Jerry, it’s just a sore spot with me, and has been for years, it’s frustrating for me to say the least. Like I said I am one of those guys that will go back time, and time again to give a band or artist another chance of grabbing me by the boo, boo. Especially if the general populous is having a fit over them, then I end of asking myself what is it that they are hearing that I am not, do you understand??? So its not like I have a closed mind when it comes to music, in fact the opposite is true. For years I hated the doors, it wasn’t until I graduated high school that I really got into them, of course all the acid I was taking at the time probably helped out as well, but you see what I mean?? Anyway you keep jamming to your Jerry, & I will continue on with my boy Ozzy, after all music gratifies us all in so many different ways.

Peace!

<cite>"Being sober on a bus is, like, totally different than being drunk on a bus."</cite> - <strong>Ozzy Osbourne</strong>

Yeah meaning that the horses should be able to run free........ I get it.... Good job!!!!!!!!! There are actually some good jockeys around. The one on top of Barbaro is one of the best. I can just imagine what he is thinking now........ :-) Actually they should just let the horses run without the jockeys. That would then be a fair race...... ;-)

Love to all..........................

Goodbye to Romance

Outlaw I hear ya, sometimes I may be a little harsh when passing judgment on some bands, but I think there were so many other bands from the era that did a better job of defining popular music than did the dead. I wont deny they played a part in it all, but as for the whole Haight-Ashbury thing that went on in San Fransisco, I credit the Beatles as being the primary cause, & influence with that whole event/movement.

I don't think that Jerry had all that unique of a guitar sound myself, & I fail to hear it in todays music as in comparison to guys like Eric Clapton, or a David Gilmour. I may be prejudice in my analysis of it all considering I am not a Dead fan, but there are other bands, & musicians I don't like at all, but I can hear their influence in bands that are out there doing it today, one for example is Sting. I really, really hate Sting, but I cant deny that his sound isn't being mimicked today, that he didn't influence people.

Anyway enough chattering away, all I can say is I never, ever got the dead, but for those of you that do, you all can have at it, because this here guy isn't feeling cheated out of anything by not being a true dead head. Forever lmfao!

Oh and outlaw have you ever really checked out the Beatles after they stopped doing all that I wanna hold your hand happy s***? Because you may want to really go back to their album rubber soul, its from that album on that the Beatles helped change the way rock n roll was done. They introduced the idea to other bands that they could actually write a song that wasn't about love, & all that sappy s***. Even though I am guilty of loving the sappy s*** as well! lol

Just curious if you have ever really given them a chance, because if not you may be missing out on some really great music my friend, and as I stated earlier, you should always go back, because after you mature, or you roll up a few miles, things that you once may have hated, you suddenly find yourself enjoying, kind of like when I was a kid I hated green peppers, but now I am a pepper eatin fool!

Anyway later bro!
