Interview snips from some Sabbath guys

from billboard.com:

There's plenty of talk about a Black Sabbath reunion for 2008. It's just not coming from the band members themselves. Guitarist Tony Iommi tells Billboard.com that even though "everybody's been talking to me" about the much-reported regrouping, "there's nothing in stone at all. It's very loose, so we'll see what happens."

Sharon Osbourne, original frontman Ozzy Osbourne's wife and manager, indicated earlier this year that Sabbath would be working together in 2008, and recently confirmed that "we're definitely talking to the guys." She hopes to further the discussions while Ozzy is on the road this fall on his post-Ozzfest tour with Rob Zombie and as Iommi and bassist Terry "Geezer" Butler finish up their Heaven & Hell tour with Ronnie James Dio.

Iommi says he'd like to see any Sabbath reunion involve some new music; the group's original lineup hasn't released a full set of fresh material since 1978's "Never Say Die!," though it did include a couple of new tracks on the 1998 live album "Reunion."

"I've been going on for a few years now saying I think we should've done an album a long time ago," Iommi explains. "It would be nice to do one, but, again, it's having the time to do it. I haven't written an album with Ozzy for a long time, so we'll have to see how long that'll take, and what it involves."

Iommi says he and Osbourne have been talking throughout the year and reports that the singer is "doing quite alright. He sounded fine when I spoke to him. We usually check in with each other and say, 'How you doing?'"

Heaven & Hell, meanwhile, is gearing up for a second North American tour, which kicks off Sept. 5 with opening acts Alice Cooper and Queensryche. This time out the group is supporting the "Live From Radio City Music Hall" CD and DVD, and Iommi and Butler acknowledged that they're intrigued by the possibility of continuing this band as well.

"It could happen, but we're not planning anything yet," says Butler. "We've always said it's just for this year only and that's it. But if something happens in the future ... I mean, I didn't even know this was gonna happen a year ago, so never say never."

Iommi adds, "I think we'd probably like to do something, whether it's an album or whatever, because it's such a great lineup. We've sort of mentioned it, but we've not really gone further with it. I think when we get to the end of this year we'll probably make some kind of decision."

I gotta say, this made me feels all happy and warm inside. The best news I've heard probably since I heard Tony and Ronnie were getting together.

Sounds like Ronnie showed Tony that its not too hard to write some new songs. Hopefully Ozzy will finally agree to give it everything or nothing and stop jerking us around. However Ronnie seems set on the Magica trilogy (maybe with Vinnie :D) so that leaves Tony and Geezer with some spare time. I'd love another Iommi/Hughes album and another GZR, but above all I WANT ANOTHER SABBATH ALBUM WITH OZZY!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about you bro, but Geezer is the s***! Lmfao @ Paranoid at the R&R hall of fame! Hey I am sure you have went and listened to all of the GZR stuff, is the later GZR as heavy as what he did with Burton C. Bell? I have not checked in on Geezer solo s*** in a while I am ashamed to say, so you know me a little by now, do you think I would dig it as much as the Burton C. Stuff?????

It is definately heavy but less growly. Clark Brown does more vocals than growling. Some critics say Ohmwork is more nu-metalish but I disagree. My favorite is Black Science with plastic Planet a close second. Have you heard Fused?

Thanks for the news bro, it makes me want to scream & cry all at the same time, I just wish they would make it happen, & happen soon. I fear the same thing may occur here as did with the anticipated Beatle reunion. I pray not, but as more, and more time slips away, I can only grow more, and more nervous about it all.

If I could only bend Ozzy's ear for about 30 seconds I would beg him to get off his butt, leave Ozzfest behind for a while, & make this project become a reality. Its time, its past time, Sabbath needs to rise up once again and show these young pups how its really done!

Black Sabbath with Ozzy has been working on a new CD for years (actually it is almost finished). They have some tracks finished. I presume that what will happen is a solo tour OR an Ozzfest with Black Sabbath next year after a CD is released. That is what I have been told many times............

Love all of you guys...............................

Goodbye to Romance

See the story I keep getting is that Iommi has to ask Ozzy, time & time again to get this project going, and that Ozzy has been procrastinating on it either out of other contractual obligations, or out of the fear of tarnishing the Black Sabbath legacy. I am uncertain as to why Ozzy hasn't scarfed this opportunity up, and no jab intended here; with as much as Ozzy & Sharon both love the money, I feel how anyone could see this reunion thing anything else but being very, very lucrative, beyond lucrative in fact.

Again I just want to see the boys of Sabbath go out with a bang, and to give a lesson session to these younger pups on how hard rock is done, after all they are the pioneers of it all..

Later All!

Goat..... The reason that this CD is in a swing mode is that Ozzy (well Sharon) and Tony are not coming to a resolution on the record label. Tony wants his lable and Ozzy wants his label. That is what is holding this whole thing up...... They have been bickering over that for years now... That CD is almost done and I heard one of the songs... It fricken rocks........ It is just a matter of "who gets the rights"???????????? I myself think they should flip a fricken coin........ I don't care....... they should just release it and go on tour....................

Sorry rose but that not true. No work has been done since 2001 and no work had been done prior to that (with the exception of Tony and Ozzy doing PM and SMS, and Geezer and Bill coming in later to record them) when Ozzy was under pressure to get DTE (not title then) finished to make the record company happy. They had written a bunch of songs and had recorded most if not all of them with the exception of Ozzy's vocals and probably some solos. And no mixing has been done. However Ozzy wasn't satisfied with these (I have seen interviews where Bill and Tony praise these songs)

See thats what I keep hearing as well, & I also hear Iommi is getting frustrated with Ozzy over the whole procrastinating thing. so far I have not heard anything differently, anything that has been confirmed as 100% fact anyway.

Aswell as being frustrated with the narrow setlist. Geezer was the main one who refused to play at the RnR hall of fame if the song was going to be Paranoid. Ronnie came in and has been a breath of fresh air.
