Black Sabbath

is it true that they are re-naming Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell? cos if they are, that name sucks lol

Replies

Ah I agree, only a poser would be dumb enough as to not be aware of who is actually in the band, and buy a ticket without checking the facts out first. lmao, people amaze me, always! lol!

Its not about who people's favorite emodiement of Sabbath is, for mee it is the Ozzy-era aswell and I'd expect 99% of the useres here to have that same stance but saying the ONLY Black Sabbath is with Ozzy is terrible disrespect to all the great musicians that played in the band and innaccurate towards history. And I, unlike most people here, really enjoy the other eras of Black Sabbath and I will defend them and their music over defeniding Ozzy (simply because Ozzy has more support and doesn't need it from me)

I'm just surprised that curiosity doesn't compel more people to listen to the other eras. I started out die-hard Ozzy only fans (I even flipped off Dio when he appeared on that South park episode) But as I saw that there were instrumentals I got those and listened to them and they provoked my curiosity. Also I had to do a Spanish project lip-synching to a Spanish song and I wanted it to be metal and shortly before that joe Seigler posted a story about a Sabbath-tribute (from all eras) listing H&H as a track in Spanish and that drew me into H&H and later into the complete Sabbath catelog.

Everyone has their taste but I think that if people give the other eras a chance they will be pleasently surprised, but to not give it a chance just cause it says Black Sabbath on the cover but Ozzy isn't in it is just ridiculous to me. Ozzy is one man in a huge genere and a huge industry. Tony Iommi is reason enough to listen to the 10 Black Sabbath albums recorded from 1980-1995.

I am going to say this ONE MORE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE IS ONLY ONE BLACK SABBATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward........CASE CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love you all.................................

I will die before I will listen to ANY Black Sabbath other than Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and Bill :-)......

Well for what its worth thats what Sabbath line up matters to me, and I only own those albums as of today. But one mans Ozzy, is another mans Dio, so to each his own. Who am I to shove my opinion on anyone else.

Sorry rose, I love you and all but these pictures as well as the words "Black Sabbath" in them refute that statement. Aswell as the 10 studio albums without Ozzy vs the 8 with him.

I don't mind Dio solo........ I am still curled up on my ceder pet bed and trying to make my decision. LOL

Oh I will never dispute with you that the band carried on bro, the only difference between you & me is that I stopped listening after Dio bailed, well actually Ian Gillan to be completely honest. And I think its cool that you are younger and don't see things through rose colored glasses kind of like my generation tends to do, in fact thats the way it should be. So you keep the faith alive brother, & don't fret all the haters!

Peace

Well to say Ozzy has hidden resentment for Dio, then what do you think is still under the surface with Ozzy and his feelings for Iommi, or Bill considering he is the one who actually told him he was out of the band, face to face. I think Ozzy has made peace with all that, if he hadn’t of there would have never been a original Sabbath reunion, no matter the money that could be made, because Ozzy has lots of integrity, via my total admiration for him!

But that’s my two cents rose....

I will never fret, nor will I stray from my views that post-Ozzy Sabbath is just as great and in some instances and moods greater. In fact I view it my job to educate those willing to be less close-mindedness.

I am in the same frame of mind as you OzzyJohn, even though I have not went and listened to every Sabbath project without Osbourne. I am open minded enough to do so, especially if it doesn't involve me spending a ton of cash, but music usually cost money, and I am one of those guys that doesn't buy an album without hearing the goods first, imagine that huh??? lol!

OK now I am going to STAY calm. I have spoken to all four of the original Sab 4 and that is what "they" have to say. You both are right yes and you both have a right to your opinion. I, however will not EVER consider Black Sabbath other than the orginal 4 members....... I am firm on that and I am sticking with those original 4...... :-) So that makes 5 of us that agree on at least this...... I love you too OZZY john and you have every right to your opinions as does everyone else. I would DIE before you would EVER get me to a show with Ronne James Dio........

Love you all.............................

OZZY john dear.... I am naming my next cat Black Sabbath so that makes yet another one aye LOL...

Why he isn't Willian Hung, they guy can sing (great) and if Tony is there all the better. And that goes for all the Sabs. By not agreeing that there was more to Black Sabbath than the first 8 albums is a huge slap in the face to all of the performers like Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes (on of the nicest and most down to earth guys maybe more so than Bill :o!!!!!!) even Tony, Geezer, and Bill. Bill rejoined for Born Again with Ian Gillan, and later in 85 when Dave Donato joined for a few months, and yet again in 94 and played a few shows on the Cross Purposes tour and he would have stayed on but Gloria had an agruement with Tony so when Geezer left Bill did too.

I have read interviews where Ozzy says something along the lines of "My era and the Ronnie Dio era are the only true Black Sabbath" he also said in the 80s that he would never play with Tony. Also that there would be a new Sabbath album. And Tony and Geezer playing the Dio-era songs would refute that they think that.

Also when Tony appeared on the Gene Simmons Rock School the riff that he played was that of 'Country Girl' off the Mob Rules album (which features Dio btw)

Ozzy cannot stand Dio........ If you don't know that then you need to do some more research..... As for the music of the band carrying on their name (something Tony regrets), the music may have been good, I don't dispute that. The ONLY thing that I do dispute is the fact that there is ONLY ONE BLACK SABBATH!!!!!!! If you EVER get the chance to meet Ozzy, just ask him..... Then this conversation will come to a hault... :-)

Lets hope that there not going to change the band name is cool
Besides Heaven and Hell sounds like an album name
lol

No. Tony, Ronnie, Geezer, and Vinnie are currently on the 2nd leg of a tour called Heaven And Hell. They didn't go out as Black Sabbath because they thought it would confuuse retards (The band says people but we know the really mean retards) who would go thinking Ozzy was there. The band members have said it is a separate band, despite that they are touring to promote the BLACK SABBATH album The Dio Years.

From recent interviews they seem to have buried the hatchet just like Ozz and Tony did beofre the 97 reunion. In fact I believe that Ozzy wished both Tony and Ronnie well on this tour. But is seems as if there is no convincing you that there have been many different incarnation of the same band: Black Sabbath...

Lets agree that you disagree ;)...:D

F*** here we go again....... Ground hog day........ THERE IS ONLY ONE BLACK SABBATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask the fricken band members..... They will tell you the same damn thing................................... When you are calling these people retards, you are calling Tony, Ozzy, Geezer and Bill all retards........ Did YOU know that?????????

Love you guys.....

OK we can agree to dissagree. LOL If you EVER meet Ozzy ask him this question. "How do you feel about Dio?? ozzysrose wanted me to ask you that question........... Just remember that if and when you get backstage and get as far backstage as to meet Ozzy.... :-)

Love to all......................

Sorry hon but there are many incarnations of Black Sabbath. The Dio Years in under the name Black Sabbath. I doubt Ronnie, Vinnie, Bev, Ian Gillan, ect wouldn't say that, they were in the band too. And the songs Tony and Geezer are playing are Black Sabbath songs.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)

I'm sure at this point he wouldn't bash him. And I didn't say that we'll agree to disagree. I said lets agree that you disagee ;) (just puching some buttons)

I could bring up history, and that the history and legacy of Black Sabbath include many many lineups.

Tony himself said multiple times that he wishes he would have changed the name. I don't want to put up a long post here but I have heard all four of them and their views on it. Your right. Tony carried on but as he looks back, he himself feels that the name itself should have been a little different. If you ever meet him, just ask him. He will tell you that himself... :-)

Love you guys................

Goodbye to Romance

I fail to see the importance of this topic on what line up of Sabbath is the true personification of Sabbath??? Why? Because it’s all about personal taste, it’s almost like arguing what flavor of ice cream is the true embodiment of ice cream. Everybody has their own individual taste, their own personal flavor that they enjoy time & time again. For me if Sabbath were ice cream it would be the Osbourne years, for others it may be one of the many personifications of Sabbath after Ozzy’s dismissal. So with that said I have no problem with someone liking the Dio Sabbath years over, or equal to the Osbourne years, I may not agree, but to each his own I say.

What does it for me might not be the same for everyone else. An to be completely honest OzzyJohn is correct in his stance of lets agree to disagree, because you both can argue this topic until the planet implodes on itself, there is no real right answer here, because what may be right for one, is not always right for others. I say let it go, and better spend your time talking about things that are more interesting, such as what is in store for us in the future with a possible original Sabbath line up, and a new albums worth of material. I must confess that anything at this point would be more constructive than what is the true Sabbath embodiment, heck I think I might find it more interesting with discussing one of Ozzy’s bowel movements before dragging on, & on with this tired ass discussion. So can we put this one to bed already guys, please, pretty please with a cherry on top! lol

Oh and for the record I have never heard Ozzy say he hates Dio, however I have heard him say that he thought the music with Dio was rather good, & that he was happy for Tony’s success no matter who Tony had singing for him. True Ozzy in the first few years after Dio’s admission into the band displayed a little bit of contempt for him. I think as Ozzyjohn that Ozzy has made peace with it all, and in doing so has offered out an olive branch to Dio in a sense.

Also I would love to see Dio, solo, or with the almighty Black Sabbath. I am a Dio fan, I am not a fanatic about him, & I don’t admire him near as much as I do Ozzy, but Dio is kind of beatin up a lot unnecessarily. An the main reason is because of him trying to fill Osbourne’s shoes, if he had never made that move I believe he would be a lot more respected, & that he would get a lot more credit for being a fundamental part of the evolutionary process within heavy metal. I for one am happy that there was a Ronnie James Dio, & I obviously give credit when credit is due, so to ostracize Dio, or to bastardize his name is only a sign of unawareness & prejudice.

<cite>"Being sober on a bus is, like, totally different than being drunk on a bus."</cite> - <strong>Ozzy Osbourne</strong>

Everyone has 20/20 hindsight but the fact is that Black Sabbath had many different singers, dummers, bassists, a few keyboardists, 168 commercially released songs (not including a few demos, live only, ect tracks), and all of them kick ass.

And my view is if it quacks like a duck and looks like a duck then its a duck. Heaven And Hell play Black Sabbath songs and have members who were all in Black Sabbath at the same time (for 4-ish years non-consecutivly) so...

And any real fan of Ozzy or Sabbath will know whether Ozzy is touring with Sabbath or solo or if Dio is there. Even if they don't like Dio and are only a real fan of Ozzy they should've seen the news, Ozzy and Sharon have commented on it several times. Also it only take one google search to find out who is playing on tour.

I don't remember what tour it was but it was with Randy Rhodes. Ozzy had a great big midget hanging from the rafters and was mocking it intensley. The midget was Ronnie and Ozzy at that time was f****** with him big time... Of course this was over 20 years ago........ I personally feel that there is hidden resentment there........ I also feel that Ozzy is just putting a lid on it........ Just my opinion from what I have heard from peoples in the past on tour and at shows........

Love you all................... And Goat... WHY will you not let me out of the doghouse? I get one paw out and then you put me right back in again :-(........
