Randy, Jake or Zakk

Who do you think is the best Ozzy guitar player?

Replies

I agree. I love all of the guitarists Ozzy has had play with him, honestly. There's never been a dud. And that is human nature, everyone always has to deconstruct everything it seems. It's the same story on Creed, Pink Floyd...maybe a type of person drawn to music?

hey whats up with you guys?!
almost everyone here is talking about randy,jake,jake,randy,randy...
whats with zakk?
i mean i really love randys guitar play it's truly amazing BUT without
good ol' mr.wylde there were no MIRACLE MAN,I DON'T WANNA CHANGE THE WORLD,
TATTOOED DANCER,DESIRE,MR TINKERTRAIN,PERRY MASON...its an never ending list.

they are truly 3 amazzing guitar GODS
i think we should'nt compare
we should simply enjoy!!!

Warpig said it all, no need to say any more really! lol

Totaly concur with War Pig's last comment!!

Robert

They are all good but personally i think it's between Jake and Randy but Randy IS in the top 100 guitarists of all time, 1 place above Iommi

OZZY FOREVER
Suicidesolver81

Zakk Attack!!!! But i like Randy too!

I think Randy is the best, not just the best that ozzy has played with, hes also the best guitarplayer of all time!

Randy was best but nowadays Zakk is best. Jake .E. Lee is very good one too..

Without Randy, there would be no Zakk. Plus Zakk loves all the Jake E. Lee stuff. But when you think about it, they all have there own qualities which are awesome in themselves! Randy's classical influences, Jake's guitar hooks just grab you and Zakk's speed and country blues influences go so well with the Ozzy stuff!! They all melt into each other, but for me, it's gotta be Zakk! I love Zakk's take on all of the old stuff Randy & Jake's material and Sabbath's stuff.
He's without a doubt the front runner for metal guitar playing!!

R.I.P Randy Rhoads

"I think Randy is the best, not just the best that ozzy has played with, hes also the best guitarplayer of all time!"
there's no doubt that randy was one of the best and most infuential guitar players out there, but i don't think he would have been able to compete with people like Yngwie J. Malmsteen or Steve Vai. (technically that is)

Fix me!!!

It can only be the ONE never realized, you can only imagine the sound of Randy today, he WOULD have greatly exceeded even Mr Iommi. David

judging by my name, what do you guys think my answer is? XD Randy every time. the other two are great guitarists, but every time I listen to Randy playing the tunes... it gives me chills

Tribute is the best! Rest in peace Randy! We miss you bro!

\m/.

Iommi was the creator.
Randy was the best!
Then Jake was the best!
Now Zakk is the best!!!
Nuff said?
Good!
ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O Z Z Y - R U L E Z !

Randy all the way!

What is this that stands before me?

Hi. I think, like David Macartney. Randy Rhoads in this years (2007) must be the best guitarist! Randy is a God! RIP Randy

Zakk is great.. But Randy did Diary Of A Madman and Blizzard Of Oz..

Rhandy all teh way...

Is not even close.....Randy was the best ever and I think he'd have been better than Van halen too if he had lived longer....I can only imagine the things Ozzy and Randy would have done together over the years.

Ozzy rules!!

Randy was the master creator
Zakk is a guitar GOD

love them all...
but RANDY hands down.

Zakk #2
and Jake is VERY under-rated

hear my band Downtrend at
www.myspace.com/downtrendmusic

they are all great in different way. They all wrote music that I love. But I perfer Randy's style of playing to Zakk or Jake

Hard to decide. Jake E. Lee, Randy Rhoads would be first (because I have learned some of their stuff) and then Zakk (only because I don't know any of his stuff).

I like Jake! He was the right man at the right time. Go back and reconsider "Never", "Never Know Why", "Fool like You", "Waiting for Darkness"...Hell alll af it! A lot of fans hated him 'cause they loved Randy so much. Too bad he and Oz did'nt get along.

I like DiaryOfACajunMan's post:
"Iommi was the creator.
Randy was the best!
Then Jake was the best!
Now Zakk is the best!!!
Nuff said?"

strangebs

Randy, Zakk, Jake

randy's a god. but zakk's awesome too, Jake wasn't around very long and his songs were very poppy for my tastes, especially the ultimate sin album. but he did have great songs like bark at the moon and ultimate sin that kind of thing.

They're ALL Great and that's a testament to Ozzy's knack for selecting guitar talent.

You can never touch the stuff he did with Randy. I'm not saying that because Randy is no longer here with us. The material he did with Ozzy remains the most elaborate, layered and beautiful stuff Ozzy has done solo. The chemistry in the studio between Ozzy,Randy,Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake was truly, truly magical.
Jake E. Lee was just so cool! He played a Strat (unlike Randy) and really had a terrific stage presence and did good by Ozzy when he was in the band. Plus, he came up with some awesome riffs, such as the one for "Bark At The Moon". Even the stuff he did with his subsequent band Badlands was ace..
Zakk has going for him many things: a genuine affection and respect for not only what Randy and Jake contributed with Ozzy, but also a love of Tony Iommi's playing, to boot. Zakk rocks. I guess my order of faves would go Randy,Zakk then Jake.

Thanks for all the great replies.
but falkrik, regarding your version of bark at the moon. nice show, but i think that you should consider changing the settings on your amp. perhaps use a bit less trebble and ad some bass to avoid that, er, noise during tremolo picking. and of course keep practising.
Rock on

Fix me!!!

I really have no opinion. Ozzy does a great job with all of them.

Octavian,

Thanks! I know the mix is bad on it - I had the amp connected direct to the recorder and the sound from the video also was mixed in, and the line out seems to be way too bright on that amp.

Oh well, you only get one chance on those live recordings and something always seems to go wrong.

Thanks again,

Randy Rhoads to compete with Yngwie Malmsteen or Steve Vai? I think Randy was great, though I haven't heard so much from him. But, Yngwie M and Steve V I have heard from, and I actually think they're kinda boring...Yngwie is all like "I'm so good and I know it" annd Steve is...I don't know, stuck at the 80's? I'll probably get to hear it now from fans of those too...

Always: Expect the worst!

no problem
--
Fix me!!!

Randy Rhoads of course.
never one note out of place, and everything in the music placed just right.
after seeing Randy Rhoads, i also got to see all of the others. Bernie, Brad, Jake, Zakk, and Joe.
all are incredible guitarists, but Randy is the main man.

--
anyone remember this one...
Ozzy at the Capitol Theatre, Passaic New Jersey, April 24th 1981 ?

Randy without question. I love Jake and Zakk, but I have to give the nod to Jake - He is a better player.

Randy is my favourite guitar player of all time... jus imagine how good he could have been today!!! I also really liked jake. in my opinion he is one of the most underrated guitar players... if some of you have seen the ultimate ozzy you know what i mean!! he is also kicking ass on the bark at the moon live video thing

R.I.P Randy Rhoads

Jake was a solid mediocre. I would never disrespect Randy Rhoads, but I would have to go with Zakk. He can do anything Randy could do and he's proven he can do more. He's the most versitile guitarist on the planet hands down. Go back and listen to Pride & Glory and Book of Shadows if you don't believe me. The man is a living guitar god. He should have a statue.

Randy was really amazing and unique and even with Zakk's emense talent he will never be able to duplicate his sound. However, its like comparing Brian Johnson to Bon Scott. Bon Scott will always be a classic in the hearts of AC/DC fans, but Brian Johnson is pretty f***ing amazing!
