Replies

Ya doom, its the big kid in me I guess, put me in front of a mirror and, well I fan boy out, lol!

As for the 80's fest thing, Ozzy is the s***, and Alice would be very cool to see again, I am surprised he put down his golf clubs long enough to actually tour. Regardless I would love to see him one more time before he goes, he has a show like no other, its easy to see where Manson got his ideas, Manson is just Cooper done in a more modern sense, or so I think anyway. The rest of that lineup and eat my ass, I cant do most of the 80's big hair metal, so called metal, lmao!

And yes I don't like Poison, not even a little, in fact I don't like them at all, never really have, their basically a shame to metal. But I will say that C. C. DeVille is a talented guitar player, shame he wasted his talent on all that crap music called Poison, he could have had a much greater music legacy for himself if you were to ask me, not that your asking, but if ya was, lmfao!

Even not liking Poison, you have to admit that they have had a lot of awesome ass songs!!! Come on Goat... admit it!! You know, songs you had to have liked and songs that you dont just tolerate because they are from your past!!! And how can you not like GNR??? no slash?? that sucks!!!!

and dont get me wrong!!! i do love metal. some of it i can only take so much of though. like that gothic type metal.... too much screaming! i can handle it till i hear that!! then i wanna jump under a bus!! lol!

and why no Bret?? specific reasons to the absence of Bret Michaels!!!! i dont under stand!!! :(

if you had to choose one and only one rock artist or rock group to be your favorite, who would you choose???

Not a big fan of glam metal myself, although I quite liked GnR and WASP, couldn't stand poison, cinderella or fag bands like that. The f***in worst has gotta be twisted sister, the guy literally looked like a f***in clown, there drummer sux and there guitar solo's were non existent. Apart from Ozzy, the kings of metal for the 80's in my opinion has gotta be Megadeth. Dave Mustaine a f***in genius, original lead guitarist for metallica until they booted him out for being too f***in drunk, co wrote songs on "kill em all" and "ride the lightening" and rumored to have wrote "Leper Messiah" on "master of puppets" starts his own band called Megadeth which also becomes extremely sucessful. What are the odds of that, original member of metallica, founding member of megadeth. The 2 bands which go on to become arguably
the best speed or thrash metal bands of the 80's

Old rockers come and go, but not Oldman Double O

Not liking Poison:
I am sorry to bum you out, but when poison entered the scene back then I was listening to Megadeth’s peace sells, not poison. Well to be completely honest I listened to it, but not by choice I may add, it was around the house due to my wife and her silly ass girlfriends, lets just say I never bought it, nor did I ever really dig them at all, I deemed them to be a chick thing in the end… Although I will say this, poison were a notch above faster pussycat, but to me that’s not saying a whole lot if you know what I mean?

GNR:

As for GNR, I remember reading a record review in hit parader on appetite way before the album was even released, since heavy music was at an all time low I figured at least these guys looked a little more like real men, they wore leather, and had some attitude, so on that as well as the review I went out and bought the album the day it was released. It turned out to be a great album for the time, I loved appetite for destruction, I remember playing it for my wife and her friends, telling them they would be the biggest thing since sliced bread, only to be laughed at like I was some kind of village idiot, it pissed me off to say the least.

Anyway I went on listening, and it wasn’t until months later when the video, and the taped concert was aired on MTV, then suddenly everybody was like oh wow, these guys rock, and this included my wife and her goofy girlfriends of course. Now what’s ironic here is it was that same taped concert of MTV’s that killed my admiration of these guys, Axl looked, and sounded like s***, plus he acted like a a**hole on stage, so it wasn’t much later down the road he proved me to be anything but wrong in my assumptions of him, I need not explain all that I am sure considering his history an all.

So it was all down hill from there for me, I wrote them off as another band that was at the right place at the right time, kind of like Nirvana, but again to each his own I guess.

Slash:

I do however like slash as a person, he seems to be a pretty good guy, I don’t get him keeping the gay leather look and top hat, but again whatever floats your boat I guess? His new stuff with velvet revolver is not too shabby, I always knew he didn’t need Axl Rose around in order to be successful. Anyway I am no huge fan of GNR, but I could think of worse bands for someone to choose liking, such as Faster Pussycat, man that name just kills me, lmfao!

My thoughts on Bret:

As for Bret he has always made me about half sick to my stomach, he looks like a badly dressed transsexual, and his singing is anything but great, its mediocre at best, again though that’s just my feelings on it all, some will differ I am sure, as will yours I am assured of, lmfao!

My all time fav band:

That’s easy, Black Sabbath is my all time favorite group, after that then it would be Slayer, or Pantera, its hard to pick a fav when you have to naturally compare them to the almighty Black Sabbath, that’s a hard act to follow if you know what I mean, lol!

Did someone say tatts....
Dude I like the Christ tatt concept
Rock on, had a similar idea myself, unfortunitly all mine are demons and naked women
kinda lame now, The Christ tatt would be a great leveller .A big chest one, f*** yeah

--
Old rockers come and go, but not Oldman Double O

I consider Guns N' Roses rock n' roll, not metal. I've heard about that tattoo artist before, but I don't think he knows anything about Axl. That link I posted earlier, in the interview, I think he says that his behaviour was a result of his childhood. Izzy would be the one who has a problem with what comes with stardom. To me, I would place his voice among the top 20 rock voices of all time, I don't understand why you don't like it...Right place at the right time? That's the deal for every band (Ozzy zig needs a gig hahah). So what if he's no Ozzy Osbourne, they are two different bands entirely.

Speaking of tatts, I have a right shoulderblade tattoo of a devil woman lol. Almost the same. And would not suggest getting a chest tattoo...

i agree onmysix. i do like poison as ive said before though! im not a huge fan but i do like many of their songs. and finially!.... someone other than myself on this site that likes GNR!! i have yet to convince you goat. lol. so goat... do you like Slash? i that hes one bad ass guitarist! what are your oppinions on velvet revolver??

The more I see, The less I know.

[snow : RHCP] :)

I can't believe you don't like Gn'R. I don't care what Axl looks like and I think his vocals are better live because there is so much more power. The a**hole thing is his trademark, and to get rid of that, there wouldn't have been a Gn'R in the first place. I actually found an interview awhile back on the stem of his attitudes:
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/5937403/axl_rose_the_rs_interview

Personally I think Velvet Revolver is terrible and I would prefer Slash's Snakepit.

why no chest tatto?? I SAY GO FOR ITTTT!! lol. hav fun with that and then post a pic!! you have naked women tattoos?? wtf? how old were you then 13? lol. jk! u kno i lov ya onmysix!!!!! hahahhah.

--

[snow : RHCP] :)

f*** yeah, nothing wrong with GnR, infact I think the "Use your illusion " double albums have gotta be classic's
Axl Pose is a big f***ing wanker but who the f*** cares, old Slash ain't the best guitarist on the planet, but his style of guitaring is unique and IMO sound f***in awesome. Velvet revolver, listenable I guess, nothing brilliant but I'd listen to em

--
Old rockers come and go, but not Oldman Double O

SG, do you know that Ozzy once said that "axl has one of the most appealing voices". something like that but with a lot of mumbling, lol

--
Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)

LMFAO @ onmysix, I hear ya, I hear ya!

Doom I concur on them falling into the rock and roll category more so than the metal labeling. And as well to your theory on the right place at the right time thing as well. But I have never held GNR in very high regard, my personal taste just grew another direction, like I stated I gave them a chance when hardly no one knew who they were, I bought appetite the day it came out, so I was more than willing to give them a whirl, but when the huge music explosion happened in the late and early 90's, well GNR fell way down, way down on my list of bands to listen to.

As for any of you that like them, thats cool with me, I am not saying your any less of a real music fan than I am, or that your unworthy of listening to rock n roll. All I am saying is how I personally view them, and I just hope you all respect my honesty, as well as my integrity for heavy music, cause god knows I love my music, lol!

As for your saying you really put Axl's voice up on a pedestal, I find that kind of funny, not in a mean way bro, just that I have been said to sound like him, especially if I egg it on. As for when I sing in my natural singing voice, I sound a bit like my hero Ozzy, but if I throw, or project it just a bit I can pull off a pretty mean Axl Rose impersonation if you know what I mean, lol..

Doing my best Axl rose dance!

Look out karaoke here I come!

bret... is yes kind of, well you know. but still love him like he was my bff!! lmao!!!!

and yes this music WlLL float my boat. my crazy ass boat that has been fairly close to sinking!!!!! hahahaha.

Yes. I AM totally insane.

To be honest, I didn't like The Spaghetti Incident probably like most people, but I never outgrew GnR and I don't think I ever will. It's good to know a lot of people around here are honest, that's why this I keep coming back. I probably could pull off an Axl voice too, but the question I ask, not being our natural voices, could we do it night after night?

And don't get a chest tatt cause it hurts like f***in hell!!

Slash is ok, Megadeth f***in ruled, and Poison yuck, gag, ick! Never liked them, never will, a waste of human flesh they all were.

As for Wasp, I owned me a few Wasp albums back in the day, in fact seen them open up for I think Alice Cooper of all people, odd looking back at that, considering they were so alike an all. I still have f*** like a beast on CD, I throw it in every once in a while to get a good laugh at it all, dated to say the least! lol

I hear ya bro, I know I couldn't, and not to be ornery I don’t think Axl did so well of a job at it right there towards the very end, you may differ on that theory as you still are a fan, but for me I think him singing that way kind of took its toll..

As for being a die hard fan, no need to explain, hell I am 40 years old, three kids, and should definitely know way better, but f*** it I'm still a Kiss fan! lol

Now hows that for cheesy?

Doing my best Gene Simmons face & tongue waggle!! Lol

Oh and I bet getting a tat on your chest would suck, I have always heard your knuckles, or around any real bony area is really rough to do. I have a friend who is getting a full back piece done of the four horsemen; so far it looks really bad ass!

Sorry doom, but I pretty much hate GNR these days. GNR represent poser ass big hair metal to me, something I grew to despise way back then, and still do to this very day. For those of you that cant make the distinction between poser metal, and real metal I offer an apology anyway. If you can find a way to stomach that corn ball s***, then by all means have at it. But while your listening to your GNR, I will be cranking up my Alice in Chains cd's! lol

When I was out in L.A all those years ago I went to sunset strip tattoo, the guy that did my tat also did Ozzy's, as well as Axl Rose, and many many others. So with my knowing this fact about him, I asked him about what the f*** was up with Axl's erratic behavior. His answer was this, Axl has a hard time with what comes with stardom, and he can't always control all his emotions, ect., ect..

So as you can imagine this bulls*** line don't cut any ice with me, I am with Ozzy, Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley, why are you in this profession if you don't want the whole f***in package. I in the end find guys like Axl Rose to be, well sorry to say it, but complete, an utter pussy's really.

Wah, wah I am famous, wah, wah you want my autograph, wah, wah someone is taking my picture, give me a f***in break now will you!

Rose can go an f*** off, I would have traded places with him any day of the week, I mean what a pussy b****!

An for the record, Axl's voice is s***, no matter what Ozzy may have to say. This is on record somewhere, in one of Axl's many past interviews. He mentioned at one time that his vocal coach had told him that if he didn't stop projecting his voice the way he constantly was that he wouldn't be able to sing in a few short years, of course he told the coach to go get f***ed, but who doesn't Axl Rose go tell to get f***ed, including his punch happy legion of fans, its all part of his loving charm, and charisma, I think NOT! lol

Axl to me is an over rated a**hole, who simply got lucky at being at the right place at the right time, my question to all of you is where is he now in comparison to todays music scene? It appears he is nothing but a has been, a lost an vanishing ghost...

An he is undeniably no f***ing Ozzy Osbourne? In fact he isn't even a pimple upon the ass of the great and almighty OZZY Osbourne!

Oh an that boat rose, that wouldn't be the lame ass poser boat now would it?

lmfao and this diatribe was all in good ole metal happy ass fun, so don't you all go an freak out on me at once now, ya hear?

Well it is like this for me, with me growing up during the early 80's, "my high school years" music had hit an all time low, and the big hair bands were fun yes, but despite that fact guys like me who loved the real meat and potatoes kind of heavy music, well we were all starving for the real thing baby, and when I say real thing I mean bands like Sabbath, Led Zep, & Rush, bands that had their own identity.

So when the whole music scene began to emulate bands like Van Halen, Kiss, and Aerosmith, the big haired glam era began, and even though at first I enjoyed some of it, after a couple of years it simply became a parody of itself, and like all things that get overly popular it just ends up getting completely bastardized.

So when I first heard Slayer, even though it was actually shocking at first because it was so different than anything else I had ever heard before, it just seemed to appeal to me after a few short listens. The same for Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, you all know the big five. I feel in love with that whole scene because for the first time it really seemed to be just about the music, and the integrity of writing your own songs, unlike pop bubble gum glam metal, that its only aim was being commercially successful enough to get played on the damn radio. So thats why bands like poison, rat, & the crue, all got left behind after a while, or so I think thats partly why anyway.

Don’t get me wrong I am not a complete hard ass, when I hear those old songs I get a smile on my face, it was fun, but as for standing up to the test of time such as Sabbath, or Led Zep, well that era of rock bands failed miserably at achieving that kind of notability. So even though Metallica has dropped the ball in my opinion in these later years, anything from the black album on, I still have to give credit where credit is due and say that them as well as Slayer are kind of my generations Black Sabbath, or Led Zeppelin. In other words instead of jumping on the band wagon they created their own thing, wrote the blue print on how future heavy music should be made, just as Ozzy and the boys of Sabbath did a couple of decades before them.

So in the end I have only a nostalgia kind of thing going on for the whole glam metal thing, to me its almost the same as those old ass disco songs from my youth, “note that I hated them more than anything else going on way back then”, but ironically when I hear them on the radio today I laugh and even find myself singing the stupid ass s*** out loud, just as I do when I hear Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot, Poison or Rat, or any one of those pop metal groups from back in the day, its just goofy ass fun to me, not at all as serious or notable as Sabbath, Metallica, or The Suicidal Tendencies, those bands I need not to be ashamed of if you ask me?

Anyway I am just an old ass metal head, just stuck in my old metal ass ways, & if I may have upset or offended anybody I am sorry, please forgive me, but due to my love and integrity for real honest to goodness heavy music, I cant help but see it all this away....

Oh duh, the bands I am listening to at this moment an time in my life are Lamb of God, Slayer, Clutch, Crowbar, System, Wolfmother, Monster Magnet, Machine Head, Soulfly, Fear Factory, Entombed, Down, Pantera, older Mudvayne, Snot, old Korn, Slipknot, and of course the classics such as Sabbath, Zep, The Who, The Doors, Frank Zappa, Cream, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Nazareth, AC/DC Bon Scott preferred, Rush, Hendrix, The Beatles, The Stones, CCR, well you get the point huh?

Later my peeps!
