Ozzy:"I have no regrets except that I wasn't up to keep Randy (Rhoads) from getting on that plane." (Ozzy Osbourne, Guitar World Issue 37, 2000)
Fact is Ozzy has changed, because no one, or any given thing stays absolutely the same.
As for preference, thats going to differ from person to person, myself I love the old days, there is no touching it. Not only was the music awesome, but the hysteria that was in the air back then about Osbourne can hardly be rivaled, Manson did a good job of doing it once again by todays standards, but back during Sabbath, and Ozzy's early solo career there was no one that touched what he was doing, it was brilliant in every way.
The question was about preference, and with that your going to get everything from people that may not like him at all, all the way to people that practically worship the ground he walks on, never seeing any wrong that he may do. So my people don't let your panties get in a bunch, or as onmysix may have put it, don't let your f***in panties get in a f***in bunch you f***in completely truthful a**holes!
Hows that for seeing stars OzzyJohn, lmao!

Speaking of old and new, what do you guys think of the "speak of the devil' album
I know Double O has disowned the album, But i reckon it's actually one of his best live ones.
I f***in love it, very raw and kinda honest if you now what I mean
No disrespect to Ozzy intended,
Rock on

Honest? How do you mean? I don't know if you know this but some work in the studio was done before it was released.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)
I think if the first time or whenever you hear something that fits your mood perfectly you're gonna love it. There are some times when I love "See You On The Other Side", other days I can't even imagine listening to it. And if on those days you hear something that doesn't fit you you're gonna prejudice it. If you're in the mood for some SBS and say "hey put on some Sabbath" and someone puts on Technical Ecstasy or Heaven And Hell you might not care to try it again on a different day in a different mood. Every songs ever and yet to be composed has its own unique energy and that different energy is absorbed at different times. Some people never can absorb certain energies.
----------------------------------
Another example is Priest's Breaking The Law. I put that on when I'm frustrated and overwhelmed. I usually speed around town with that song blasting and screaming myself hoarse. But after some um... fluff... thats the farthest song I have in mind.

It doesn't bother me,it just makes you look unintelligent and uncivilized. I mean there is no reason for that behavior. It accomplishes nothing.

Much truth spoken there OJ, I have to say mood plays a huge part in what I listen to day to day. Hell with me and my mood swings I can literally go from something like Slayer to Neil Young all within a few minutes, to a few hours, it just depends on what my moody Gemini ass is up for, lmao!
Usually when I mellow, I listen to some Mozart, or old classic rock such as the Beatles, or lets say like today I popped in some Janes Addiction for a while. I haven't listened to them for some time, it sounded good and fit my mood at the time. I like an Australian band called Powder Finger, they have some groovy tunes, and Radio Head is also a great mood enhancer as well, especially if you are in a room full of your own smoke! lol
Anyway OJ a very valid point I have to say!

Do you mean the 3 songs on the album that were recorded in rehersal and then crowd noise dubbed in to make it appear that it was takin from the live gig at The Ritz?
If so then no, By honest i mean, the fact that RR had only been dead for six months
Ozzy was in a bad space, Didn't really want to do the gig, he had Brad Gillis on guitar
which probably wouldn't have helped his head space much,
And yet he pulled off what i think is arguably one of his best albums (Live)
To me when I listen to the album, All that pain that Ozzy is going through seems to come out in his vocals and persona which strangely or sadly (however you choose to look at it), seems to make the album that much better
It seems ( to me anyway ) that the album has that X factor of f***in Bad Ass don't f*** with me all over it,
But not a put-on or not staged, just honest
Kinda sad really but brilliant at the same time
Ps- you don't happen to know which 3 songs are the ringin's?

final post on my part: this conversation has no point, there is no place for intellectual growth or stimulation. Now back to the topic at hand: Ozzy new or old he still kicks ass.

Well as I understand it most, if not almost all, the songs were fixed up a bit in the studio. I do know SBS wasn't played to the audience at the gig. But I agree that Speak/Talk of the Devil was a hard time for Ozz and he pulled it off brilliantly.

WOW guys! There is some real tension in this forum. We are all here for the same reason, OUR LOVE FOR OZZY!
Personally Its the old music I like the best but you cant deny his spirit lives strong in the new s*** too. Ozzy has overcome many obstecles(sp) and it is only fair that we support him in his long journey.
Those that can not respect that this forum is for the love of ozzy should just not be a fan. No offence intended to anyone here. I think you guys are great!
Ozzy would be disapointed to see all of us fighting this way. He does everything for the love of his fans.
This means each and everyone of us.
Just remember that opinions are like a**holes, Everybody has one. Including me.
I look forward to talking to everyone of you regulars on here and please remember that we are ozzys Life and meaning. Without us,....Ozzy would not live on. Only tthrough his family would he live on. I agree with each and everyone of you in this forum. There are many opinions to considered and they all mean something.
LOVE YOU GUYS!

his music~ for the most part has. but when i listen to Nightmare off of Black Rain it kind of reminds me of the way his music used to sound. At least i think it sort of does a little.....

[snow : RHCP] :)
Today I pondered this as i drank scotch and listened to a few of his albums in no particular order. Does it really matter? I can listen to the new album with its polished studio work or the brilliance of Randy or the rawness of say Blizzard. Each album has its own distinct feel. How can anyone possibly decide which is better? Might have to listen to em all over again next weekend...and the next...
lol
just enjoy it
Ozzy hasn't changed? Are you serious? Thats a blatant fallacy. Ozzy'd say it before anyone. His new stuff is very different from his other eras. For me it really depends in what mood I'm in. For ballads I turn to NMT and Ozzmosis, for anger and agression Ozzmosis, DTE, and BR.

Well I can’t help but say a few things about the use of profanity.
Personally I don’t really care one way or another, my only reservation of its use is where you may be choosing to use it, such as at church, work, school, or around small children, so with that said I don’t think this forum is not the place, considering its targeted audience an all. As for ones intelligence if he or she uses profanity, well obviously there is no real truth in the assumption that if one uses profanity he or she is somehow of a weaker brain pool than someone who chooses not to use any street slang, or profanity.
I have met several wealthy, very intellectual individuals, who cuss like a sailor, and them choosing to speak this way has never really played any factor into my evaluation of their capabilities, or achievements, they are either gifted, clever an bright, or they are not. Them saying the word f***, or s*** really plays no bearing on them being a person of significance, such as in Ozzy an Sharon’s case. Ozzy and Sharon both talk filthy, but both have achieved their fair amount of greatness, or so I think anyway, some may differ.
As for class OzzyJohn it’s judged by the things you actually do, not by how you may choose to articulate yourself, and your note taken with the fact that profanity isn’t really necessary in order to communicate ones self in life, but non the less its here to stay, despite if it’s the political correct thing to do.
Hell sometimes despite the many myths of its use, it sometimes tends to get things done, or motivate people a whole lot further than when all those sugar coated words don’t seem to do the trick. In the end I don’t care how you may choose to word what you say, as long as I get a real message, a definitive reaction, and some actual progress, then using the word f*** is completely all right by me!
Again to each his own on how they may choose to communicate. As for me, I am a big boy, & trust me my people I can handle almost anything thrown at me these days, even young, naive, inexperienced college kids who tend to think they know everything there is to know about, well everything. An this is no big rip on you OzzyJohn, instead I am just letting you know you have a lot to still learn buddy about how the real world tends to roll, and good luck with being the only guy to never, ever use the forbidden curse word known as f***!
Peace

Old rockers come and go, but not Oldman Double O
I don't care about profanity, I listen to Ozzy's live record, lol. But use of profanity, especially on the internet, can often get misinterpreted as agression or insults. And because Ozzy has fans all over the world who might not speak English as their first language I think it is important to realize this. And when it is used in an attacking manner I just don't see how it can be anything but negative. We are all, I hope, civilized people and I hope we can move to mindless words.
Its like seeing a comic who swears a lot. There are many comedians who swear so much the joke is buried beneath them. But when someone like George Carlin uses them it is quite effective.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)
First off I envy those of you that can view Ozzy’s later work as being somehow equal to what he did with Randy, or even better yet what he did with Sabbath, I mean that’s really great for the all of you, but sadly for me I just cant, and think its unrealistic to even try to compare Ozzy’s early material up against what he’s doing now, especially with Black Rain, not that this album is a horrible effort from Ozzy, because it isn’t by any means, but in all honesty folks I have heard much, much better solo Ozzy!
I hate to be the devils advocate here, but I am more than willing to do so. Ozzy IMO, has not put out a album where every song on it is astounding, maybe ok, but not like you find on either blizzard, or diary, and to say so makes me wonder what you’re all exactly smoking, because I want some of that s***!
I mean come on my people I love Ozzy as much as the next guy, hell more so to be honest, this guy is my all time hero, the guy who made me realize that music is more than just a few lyrics, and notes strewn together, it can almost be a spiritual experience if its done right.
So for myself I have had no spiritual movement take place when getting a hold of new Ozzy music since I bought tribute. Now take note there are at least 3 or 4 songs off every album he’s done since diary that remind me of the old Ozzy I heard in the early days, but as for an entire album being equal to what he did with either blizzard, or diary, well that’s a load of fan boy bulls***, and it’s the number one reason & cause for artists walking away thinking that their music is just fine & dandy, after all its selling isn’t it? The people have to love it if this is the case. When in all actuality its just brain dead fan boys buying it all up because of no other reason than its Ozzy Osbourne, and if its Ozzy then its gotta be good! I mean it gets so bad with this fan boy bulls*** that Ozzy literally could take a giant steaming pooh and smash it up into a cd case and people would still walk away going, man this is his best “s***” ever! Yum yum!
I love Ozzy, maybe more so than most because I expect a certain level of musicianship & musical integrity from him, and yes maybe I am only a spoiled ass brat because of the fact that Ozzy for so many years delivered the goods better than perhaps anyone else in the music industry I can think of, but when I see, or hear the obvious truth, then no matter how much my love or admiration for a guy is, I have to tell it like it is.
All I want is what everybody else wants, I want my boy Ozzy to exit this business as he entered into it, like a f***in mad charging bull, I don’t want him to go out with a whimper, I want him to show these punk ass kids how its really done, just like he did in the early days, for after all he and the guys of Sabbath set the standard for our kind of music, doesn’t it only make sense that it should play its self out like this in the end as well? I personally refuse to except that Ozzy cant deliver us another Diary, or a blizzard of ozz! In fact I believe Ozzy can still be just as pioneering as he was in the early days of Sabbath and his solo career, and I pray that before his time runs out on this earth he will do so, because I love Ozzy f***IN Osbourne, and I don’t expect him to always bat a 100%, but I do expect more from him that what I have been getting here in years past!

I agree buddy, sometimes profanity does go way out of the boundaries of the norm, as with your example of how some comedians excessive use of it diminishes their craft. As for George he goes without saying is an exception to the rule, and is a great example of the kind of people I am talking about when I over look their use of extreme profanity. filthy he may be in what he says at times, but non the less a true genius.
I guess what I am trying to relay bro is don't throw stones so fast at those who do speak in a profane fashion when insulting someone, or something. I don't know about you but I have been hurt, an more insulted by an individual that never ever uttered a single profane word, but non the less tore me a new a**hole, lol.
In the end its mostly about where, and what environment you were raised up in, as well as the company you may tend to keep. So around here I wouldn't think you could really manage to offend anyone by using the word s***, or f***. However if you said you didn't have any real love for the Ozzman, well you may offend far more people by those few words than you ever thought you possibly could by saying the words s***, piss, or f***!
Hahahaaaaa, later bro!
