OjZoZhYn I think you may be surprised when that unfortunate day arrives.
I think?
No I indeed know that Ozzy is every bit of a legend to my generation as Lennon was to his. An Ozzy like Lennon crossed a lot of boundaries, its artist like Ozzy, Johnny Cash, & John Lennon that have fans that normally only listen to one category of music but somehow manage to cross over when it comes to their music & their music only. I for instance pretty much hate country music, but I love Johnny Cash, the man in black was a cool ass cowboy, hands down!
So you have to consider all that before making a statement like Ozzy cant compete with Beatle mania. For an example my father & mother who are both in their 60’s would possibly attend a Ozzy vigil, & to say the least my old man was never a huge Sabbath fan, not until years after he left Sabbath. An as for my mother well you better forget all that, she never understood heavy metal rock, but despite it all she enjoys some of Ozzy’s tunes.
So you have to take all that into consideration my friend, I think people will mourn for Ozzy world wide, he has inspired & spoken for a lot of us over the many decades of his music career. So its without a thought that I know I will be at a vigil for Osbourne, come hell or high water I’ll be there, as well will be a lot of my family & friends.
So again you may want to rethink all that, even though you are completely correct that Beatle mania was a monster all of its own, I myself kind of think you may have spoken a little to hastily when you denounced Osbourne may rival Lennon in mourners & fans at his vigil.
Peace
"Being sober on a bus is, like, totally different than being drunk on a bus." - Ozzy Osbourne
Of course bro, I am open minded as hell, I am the kind of guy that go from listening to slayer, to Mozart! Sure I would love to hear anything you have on Iommi, it's not that I don't love his guitar work, it's just those damn dated as vocals kill me, if we could find a way to erase the vocals, & leave the guitar an band I would probably love it. In fact I have wondered why Iommi don't do just that, drop having a singer & just f***in jam, its not like nobody knows him, or admires him just alone, doing his thing, do ya get that????

"Being sober on a bus is, like, totally different than being drunk on a bus." - Ozzy Osbourne
I agree. I came here to get away from the haters. And to hangout with others fans. Anyone bashes the Ozzman, I'll rip them a new one.

I love your music Ozzy!!!
.
Who can talk bad about Ozzy?! I show to him very big f***!!! Wait the death!!!=((((
Goat.... That pretty much wraps that one up...... Rose.... Ozzy is big. One thing that Ozzy has that Lennon didn't is all of these generations of people. To sad that Jonh Lennon couldn't be around to go through all of it but that is one thing. Ozzy is still making music... It has been almost 40 years since Black Sabbath evolved from Earth and Ozzy was very much into Lennon and the Beatles himself. He loved John Lennon...... All the more for people to have worldwide vigils..... Oh yeah it will be a big thing and a very very sad one at that...... :-)

Goodbye To Romance
I just have one thing to add when it comes to who wrote what in Sabbath, with the exception of "After Forever" and the instrumentals that Iommi wrote, one just needs to look at the song writing credits on the back of the album/CD's for each and every Sabbath album "All songs written by Iommi, Osbourne, Butler & Ward" Enough Said!
Metlmilitia
exactly! anyone who doesn't get the fact that ozzy made it to where he is today (career wise), is f***in dumb, he's been through a depression, and still made it back a human, and he wasn't consumed by the fame that comes with being a celebrity
It seems to me that there is always a bad apple in the bunch, & that there will always be some misguided fool who gets a perverse thrill in chastising someone for his or her music taste, or personal beliefs. I simply give these mental rejects a gentle nod, kind of like I do with the kids that ride the short bus to school. I just simply smile & watch them go for a jolly blissful ass ride. I try to not let these peeps get to me of course, but it seems only apparent that we have raised ourselves a bunch of emotional retards that seem to only find pleasure in bashing a particular site, or forum. We all have encountered one of them, the guy that floods your chat room for endless hours never giving it a rest. I mean what kind of a mental defect do you have to suffer with in order to lower yourself to this depth of stupidity? But non the less, we must unfortunately share this world with such derelicts, but every once in a while it would be nice to herd them all up & ship them off to some third world country, it would be a better alternative than gassing them I supose???
Just a thought??????
Scapegoat
you are so rite ozzy is a legand anyone hu doesent bow down to him are ovacily a freak like u said lol
ozzysrose--that's the best reply yet to this part of the conversation...not that Ozzy SHOULDN'T be compareed to Lennon, and yet, he SHOULDN'T...he's a totally different person, totally different artist, with TOTALLY DIFFERENT GOD-GIVEN talents...he's unique in his own very special way, and that's the way we love him and the reason we love him. He can't be Lennon because simply, he ISN"T Lennon. In short, he won't get the same adulation, not because he doesn't deserve it, but because he'll get his mourning from his fans in their own way...oh my, i'm getting a little weepy....let's hope that day doesn't come much too soon, eh Ozzy??? No more drinkin', no more drugs, AND NO MORE ATV'S!!!!! WE LOVE YOU OZZMAN!!!!!!
I hate that word "dated" isn't Paranoid or Ramble On dated? Master Of Puppets, British Steel its all dated. The Beatles, The Who, Mozart ;) Have I made my point yet? Maybe one more, BLIZZARD OF OZZ!
The Worst thing is that if a band has a guitar solo people call THAT dated.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)
OZZY IS THE GODFATHER OF HEAVY METAL! He is just the best!
YO SCAPE-GOAT I am jumping in here. I, like a lot of you that "grew up" with Ozz and Black Sabbath KNOW that there is no other on this planet. Yeah we had John Lennon and the Beatles (legends). We had Lez Zeppelin (legends).. We had Hendrix (OMG now there ya go)... I think that the true Ozzy fans in this camp know there is no replacing that voice. No replacing the genius of the writings of his songs.. For Christ sakes he has written about LIFE in the REAL f***ing world for 30 years. Any stupid dumb ass that can't see that? Find another f***ing planet to live on cause your on the wrong one.
I cannot for the life of me even phathom people that bash Ozzy for what he has been through and the legendary road he has taken a lot of us down.. Remember the days when we wore the vinal off Paranoid when it first came out? Remember the days when Black Sabbath was released? Remember where we were and what we were doing? Yeah Sweet f***ing Leaf.... Snow Blind......... You know we have all had our demons and Ozzy has bared the cross for thousands of us. I am over my patience with the ignorant stupid f***s that cannot see what he is REALLY all about. He has written songs that have changed lives. I love the new CD... I love all of Ozzys CD's and Sabbath... By the way.... THERE IS ONLY ONE BLACK SABBATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wanted to clear that one up LOL......... Without Ozzy there IS no Sabbath.....
So the next dumb stupid blind ignorant f*** comes in here and bashes Ozz or bashes him in any other site, be ready for the fight of your life. You can't CHANGE the fact that he is the Godfather of rock......... NADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK now that I am done venting........I feel better now...... Cya soon Ozzy.... ;)
Ozzy is a very good man! His eyes are sining! He' s an angel. Who can talk bad about him?!
BTW, the "anonymous" writer of that last comment was me...stupid me forgot to login!
Metlmilitia GOOD JOB!!!!!!! Some people can't read I guess case closed!!!!!

Why come to a forum and bash the main man of metal? Get off your damn computer and get a f***ing life!! You don't like the man, I guess thats your oppinion but this site should be for true ozzy fans and not all you wannabe crybabys
Man who the hell is starting s*** on this board? I mean to tell you. Are you coming from a board that I am familiar with and because I stuck up for Ozzy, I got kicked off the board and abused like a piece of s***? Is that who you are? If it is, WE DON'T want you here and God Forbid don't go to a show and act this f****** stupid. Don't you DARE come in to Ozzy and Sharons website and talk s*** about him. Don't do it anywhere else either you illiterate f***. Oh my let me see.... You must be 14 without the 1.... Are you that f****** stupid?
This is not Ray Charles (no offence to Ray right Ozzy?) but geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh...... Get the f*** real............ This is an Ozzy board. I think it should stay that way. Geeeeeeeeesh why am I editing my friends stupid s*** on here. Sorry you guys...... Some people have had a little too much to drink.... ;)
An angel? His the Prince Of Darkness, or haven't you heard about that box set?

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)
Why the comparisons? We all know that he adorned the Baetles. Just like i've said before how can we subject our selfish improprieties on the musicians we all talk about. Walk the Walk in their shoes, try to be no one's fool.
--
I have to agree with Scapegoat on this particular topic. (and not just because he is my brother lol) As far as I'm concerned I always wished that when Ozzy left Sabbath that Tony & the boys would have changed the name of the band. Because when it comes to certain bands I am a purist. For example I have no problem whatsoever with Tony & Geezer jamming with Dio & Apiece again because that are not calling it Black Sabbath, they've changed the name to Heaven & Hell ,after their first album! It's just a damn shame that they didn't call it H & H in the first place! Look at Rage Against the Machine, when Zach left & Cornell joined they didn't keep calling it RATM, they changed the name to Audioslave! Simmons & Stanley did the same thing with Kiss that Tony did with Sabbath, replaced original members and kept the name which in turn diluted and tarnished their legacy. The only real difference is at least with Iommi put out heavy ass s*** and Kiss just kept putting out crap! I just want to clarify that I love Tony Iommi he is the undisputed MASTER OF METAL RIFFS! As far as I'm concerned he & Osbourne are the Lennon & McCartney of Metal. Just listen to the track on Iommi's solo album that Ozzy sings "Who is foolin who?" for further validation of my previous statement! That song kicks ass! and the scary part of it is that it's just 1/2 of Sabbath! I, myself cannot wait until the Sabs get back together for a brand new studio album so that they can show all these other bands how it's f***ing done! By the way, pleased to make everyone's accquantice!
I totally agree dude!! Go hang somewhere else & don't waste our time or yours!
"Without Ozzy there IS no Sabbath"
really? Cause I count 10 studio albums with the name Black Sabbath on the front and Ozzy is nowhere in the credits. Enjoy Ozzy, that f***in great, I do too, but do not disrespect Tony Iommi, who IS Black Sabbath. Just remember that without Tony firing Ozzy, 1. Ozzy mgiht not be alive, and 2. We wouldn't have the Ozzy/Rhoads team. The 8 Sabbath albums with Ozz are killer just like the 10 without him. Sure they are different but is that a bad thing? Blizzard is different from NMT which is different from Black Rain. And like it or not Ronnie Dio, Ian Gillian, ect are all members of Black Sabbath and are part of the Sabbath legacy and history. They are all great vocalists in and outside of Sabbath.

um, ozzy rules.
why would you come to an ozzy forum if ytou don't like ozzy? that would be retarded.

Guitar Players Rule
As I have went and re-read everyone’s past posts, I have to say I never read where anyone really compared Ozzy & Lennon in their music style, or that they were somehow alike in personality. The only comparison I can recall being made is that Ozzy may very well have as many people show up and pay their respects to him as Lennon had.
It was stated that Ozzy would never rival Lennon in attendance numbers at his vigil, & that is where I disagree. I really like OjZoZhYn, & I respect his opinion, as well as others on this board, but as far as I am concerned it's kind of a pompous ass thing to say that somehow Lennon because he was a Beatle excludes the possibility that Ozzy may have as many fans show up & pay homage at his vigil. I agree with Rose that because Lennon's death came dreadfully, & prematurely, that we, no, the world was robbed of many years of great Lennon music.
Rose is correct that Ozzy's career has spanned far longer than Lennon's considering John’s life was cut so short, consequently ending his music career. I see no comparison to Ozzy & Lennon except that they both sing in a high key, & that both used a lot of metaphors in their songs, with Lennon you have the Walrus, with Ozzy you have songs like Little dolls, & Iron Man. An before anyone says Ozzy didn’t write lyrics, whatever he sang them, their as much his songs as anybody else’s within Sabbath, maybe more.
As for walking in a artists shoes, for that matter anybodies shoes, what does that have to do with the mass populous enjoying, or not enjoying a song, painting, book that an artist has created? Why should I treat them any different than I do my neighbor, if my neighbor trims the hedge a bit to short for my liking, well chances are good if asked, that I am going to be honest an tell him it looks like total s***! Just because somebody is talented, doesn’t make them any better than me, or their opinion any higher than my own, talented or not they lift & drop their pants just like the rest of us. The only difference is that a contemporary artist puts his work out there for all of us to see, as our neighbor it’s strictly kept within the neighborhood.
So I don’t give any special treatment to anybody just because they have been blessed at any given talent, why? Because I have many of my own, & if I were to actually market any one of them I would expect to have it reviewed, critiqued, & sadly yes even s*** upon, to me that’s simply the reality of it all…
Just a ole burn outs thoughts on it all, later peeps!
Later peeps
Peace!

"Being sober on a bus is, like, totally different than being drunk on a bus." - Ozzy Osbourne
Yes, Tony came up with the guitar parts, Bill the drum parts, Ozzy the melodiies and a few lyrics, and Geezer the bass lines and most of the lyrics. In the early day Sabbath was a jam band, they would play off of eachother. So in the early days this was more approiate and it became the standard instead of creating tension and bickering in the band. This is despite that Bill wrote the song Its Alright almost exclusivly, and NSD and much of the songs were written with Dave Walker who laid down initial and even in some cases the final melodies that ended up on the album.
----------------------------------------------------------
Sabbath's history is long and its family tree is wide, every branch and root contribute to the tree. Enjoy all of it

OZZY RULES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are on here to cause trouble just like other sites. There are always those that want to mess things up for everyone else. I need to re-phrase something here....
1. There is only ONE Black Sabbath! Toni Iommi, Geezer Buttler, Bill Ward and OZZY F****** OSBOURNE!!!!!
It you knew the four of them and Ozzy you would know that they feel the same way... Go to a Dio Board. This is Ozzy not Dio or anyone else that tried to be a frontman for Sabbath. Toni will be the FIRST to say that the orginal 4 are the true and only realy Black Sabbath......
2. If you come in here to bash Ozzy, you will be remembered. It is a small world and I don't think that there is a planet anywhere close enough for you to run off to. I know the moon is out cause there isn't any air up there.
Ozzy Rules, Rocks, and Rolls....... ;)
dude that is so true man thank for finnaly saying it
Yes Ozzy has tons of fans world-wide but his fame has dwindled in popular culture. 20 or so years ago maybe after NMT Ozzy could've given JL a run for his money but these days popular culture only know him as the old fart who picked up dog s*** on MTV. Both Ozzy and Lennon have die hard fans, Ozzy probably has a few thousand more, but Lennon has the masses because everyone either knows a Beatles song or knows of The Beatles and John was the frontman.
Ozzy's music and actions draws more groups away than Lennon's. It is in popular culture and the more common person that Lennon is more remembered, but it is in loyality and passion that Ozzy will be more remembered.

You're right about Bill writing "It's Alright" OjZoZhYn, Just like Ozzy wrote "Who are You' off of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath all by himself with a synthisizer. Back in the day they had a rule that whatever solo material each member wrote would stay within the confines of the band. No solo projects were allowed. I have to say I'm very impressed with your knowledge of Sabbath history dude. Especially for one so young. Sorry, I hope you don't think I'm trying to talk down to you bro! :)
amen. f*** ozzy haters, and f*** you a**holes who are b****ing at ozzy and calling him "c***" and other such names because you are having trouble getting ozzfest tickets. it's not his fault that everyone tried to get on and get tickets at once and made the servers flood. keep trying and you'll get them and you should be grateful that ozzy is giving us all free tickets. if you're not, and are mad at him for your trouble obtaining tickets, you aren't a real ozzy fan and don't deserve to go to ozzfest in the first place. f*** YOU! and f*** everyone who complains about his voice/music and says that he is old and should retire! i would love to see you try to rock like ozzy when you're his age! ozzy is the greatest forever and no one will ever compare to him!
Metal Head that was good... I like that ;)
well spoken, my friend. I agree.

Ozzyangel
Sorry bro but I have to disagree with ya once again.
Ozzy is no less of a figure in pop culture because of his TV show, if anything the TV show only managed to endear people that didn't even begin to know anymore of him than he was the dude that bite that head off of a dove, & bat. If you actually believe this horse s***, your obviously a little biased when it comes to Ozzy Osbourne, I'm not really sure as to why? But that is how it comes across to me big guy.
I respect you an all, but there is a big difference between you & a whole lot of us Ozzy fans, & that’s the fact that you actually have some kind of reverence, or gratification in the Sabbath music that followed after Ozzy bailed. Bro I really, really hate to burst you’re bubble an all, but you’re a minority in that factor, most of us including myself really never cared for what Iommi did after Ozzy’s departure. I mean to be fair I checked it out, I kept my finger on the pulse so to speak, but it never weighed up to being as good as anything Iommi & Osbourne did together, not ever.
Again all I am trying to say is that people may be surprised when it comes to the day Ozzy passes on, with how many people come out to pay their respects. I hope that day is many, many moons away, but unfortunately like all of us Ozzy will die someday, & we will then see how many really, truly love him enough to get of their dead beat asses, and unplug from the TV, & video game systems long enough to go & have an outside vigil for the man. I myself think it will be a huge number that attend, not that all that really means two s***s really, its not like its some kind of c**k fight going on here, but I think Sharon & the kids will appreciate it when that day comes, I know I would…
Peace bro

Goodbye To Romance
First of all, sorry for my poor English (I'm from Brazil).
Well, Ozzy is the man, and every single thing he's done 'till now is like a new chapter in music's history. Along with Black Sabbath (I mean the Ozzy Years) and now on his solo carrer he's "given birth" to a lot of excellent bands, such as Metallica, Pantera and so on.
He's the man. That's a fact. No one in heavy metal's history had such a influence amongst the others as Ozzy does.
I am not here to bash Ozzy. I love his music in and outside of Sabbath. But I also love the other incarnations of Sabbath. TonY (with a f***in "Y") would not say that, if that were the case why would he be playing the Dio-era of BLACK SABBATH material with Geezer and Dio if he felt that way. Not only have they released a greatest hits album with three new songs (labeled Black Sabbath) but they have released a live album of old material, and are planning of releasing a live DVD AND and another live album from this tour.
I am not here to bash but discuss the music I love. You may not like it but Black Sabbath continued for many years after the great Ozzy Osbourne left. Do you call the Dickinson era of Maiden not the true Iron Maiden cause it doesn't feature the origional vocalist? or Deep Purple or AC/DC. It is a fact that Ronnie Dio, Ian Gillian, Glenn Hughes, Tony Martin, Neil Murray, Cozy Powell, Bobby Rondinelli, ect, ect, ect were all in the band Black Sabbath.
You can live in dilussion and ignore history but there is no reason for name calling. And learn the name Tony Iommi, it is like when people mispell Ozzie Ozburn...Ozzy Ozborn's name. You know it is Ozzy Osbourne and it is Tony Iommi.
--
Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)
OK Ozzy is kicking off in two days. I sure hope that all of you guys that are going to the Washington shows stay safe, have a fricken good time and take home another year of Ozzy memories. He is going to R O C K Seattle and the George...... Kick off shows are really pretty good ones I have found....
;)
Well, I guess we will see who is right when it happens. Which hopefully won't be for awhile, atleast enough time to do atleast one Sabbath album and maybe another solo album or two.
Shame you never liked post-Ozzy Sabbath when it happened, as the music, IMO, rocks. Maybe you should give them another try. The Dio Years is a great compilation of the Dio-era and it has 3 new tracks, and The Sabbath Stones is a great tribute to the Tony Martin era. If nothing else you should listen to Nightwing from Headless Cross.
--
Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)
So call it something different, I used to lable Dio-era Sabbath "Metal Gods" as Dio mean god in Italian, Ray Gillen-era as "Blacklands" cause he later went on to form Badlands, Seventh Star as Tony Iommi cause it was origionally intended as his 1st solo album, and the Tony Martin era as "Black Idols" casue Eternal Idol was their debut. Listen to a band because of the music not the name. Priest kept the name after halford left, and it f***in rocks, same with Maiden for both Dianno and Dickinson, and AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Motorhead, Van Halen. Band lineups change and sometimes the name does too.

Hey I hear ya!! I haven't come across any bashing. But If I do, I'll rip into their ass like two starving dogs going after the same bone!!

Metal head... And damn proud!!!
Can't we all just get along?
CYBERSLASH
I could not have said it better myself. Good Job!!! A lot of people in this God for bidden hell hole of a world that we live in get just a tiny bit of fame. Not even enough for an ant to see but yet they take it a run with it like "now I am a big bad MF and you are dirt". Well Ozzy has been overwhelmingly famous for almost 40 years. Yeah a half a century!!!!! He NEVER went for the money or the fame!!!! He is in it for the fans. He would DIE for his fans. He loves his fans and I mean true fans that have STUCK by him through thick and thin and would do amazing things for them. On this note, take your stupid fame who-ever you are (what little of it you have) and jump off the planet. You are banned from this one. Ozzy will Alwasy be Ozzy...... Nothing will change that and certainly not a bunch of stupid ignorant s***heads that can't tell the difference between life and General Hospital.....
Ozzy rule, rocks and rolls................ ;)
Prince of Darkness is only musical image!

Screaming at the window... (c) Ozzy
Hey you guys. Just ingore people and rise above them. Remember John Lennon? The world stood still for three days. The whole world stopped when he was killed. Ozzy is in the same catagory. He is loved by the world. Yeah there are people that don't like metal and don't like Ozzy and that is OK but they need to stay out of here and do whatever they are doing where-ever they are doing it. I am so sick and tired of the Ozzy bashing from people that have never even heard his music. You guys.... It is a total waiste of time and energy. Positive vibes to the people that you feel you hate the most will make you feel a whole lot better. None of us have any more time to deal with a negative source. Just look and walk the other way. We are all with Ozzy and we always will be. Once a legendary fan of Ozzy, Alwasy a legendary fan of Ozzy. Yeah we may go away and get side tracked for a few months or years BUT we always come back home.......
;)

Goodbye To Romance
Bro I am not saying that I didn't enjoy it for the time, I listened to Heaven & hell, & mob rules a crap load. Just to me it was never as awesome as when Ozzy was in the band. You being younger, & you not being exposed to Ozzy first probably plays a fundamental factor in you not being prejudice with liking one more than the other. But as for me Ozzy was the man, & he was what I thought of when I heard the name Black Sabbath mentioned. I loved Dio back in the day, & I still respect what he has contributed to the heavy music scene, but I will never see him as an equal when it comes to fronting Sabbath, Dio is more of a nostalgia thing to me now.
As for who wrote what lyrics, I have heard you mention that a lot on here, & I agree historically your pretty much right on the money. But???? What I want to express to you is, that even with giving you the satisfaction that Osbourne didn't write all the lyrics doesn’t really mean snidely s*** when you look at the big picture. Ozzy is the guy who breathed life into all those words & lyrics; he is the guy who brought it all home to you when the rest of the guys in Sabbath were unable to do it themselves. Anyone who has worked in a band, or group relationship has a system, or method that works best for them. Some bands write all the music first without the vocalist even present in the practice studio, and then the singer is brought in to do his thing at a later time Then other vocalist are right there for the creative process the whole way through, and many during the creative process sing, & try things out on a improve basis. Ozzy it is rumored has done this during the recording of a lot of his albums, past & present, too much of an enormous effect I must add, it worked great.
I am not upset with Geezer, or who ever getting their due credit, as I am sure Osbourne feels much the same, I have never heard Ozzy say anything other than the truth about his relationship within the band, that’s one of the main reasons why I love him so damn much, Ozzy is not a liar, or a egotistical a**hole when it comes to his music.
As for Iommi after Dio, I have to say I really didn’t care what he was doing, or whom he was doing it with. I at that point had moved on, & was listening to a lot of other bands that didn’t seem to have that stigma that Sabbath had manage to acquire after going through two different vocalists.
I love Iommi as I have said before, no one can pound out a riff anymore-bad ass than Iommi, and he is forever & always will be the master of heavy metal riffs! Here is an example for ya, his latest effort I heard a song off an Ozzfest compilation cd my daughter brought home from the family values tour, they were handing them out free imagine that. The song I heard was ok when it came to the music, but the singer sounded so f***in dated, some old ass 80’s sounding s***, & it almost instantly turned me completely the f*** off. It is for those reasons I stopped listening to Iommi solo efforts, & the same can be said for the later Sabbath records, I just simply got tired of being disappointed with all the lame ass singers, jaded to say the least.
I just want ya to know I am impressed by what you know of Sabbath, especially the later years when I tuned out, but my advice is don’t be so eager to rib, or chastise Ozzy when it comes to writing lyrics, or his musical input. To sum this diatribe up my friend, you would have to search the world a hundred times over to ever think of finding a better front man than Ozzy f***in Osbourne!
Now can I all have an Amen on that one folks!
AMEN!
Peace

"Being sober on a bus is, like, totally different than being drunk on a bus." - Ozzy Osbourne
I hear you OjZoZhYn when you say that referring to something as dated is sometimes unfair, especially when it comes to old ass music like Kiss, or old metal such as Priest. A lot of younger guys laugh at these bands by todays standards, which is really unfair, you have to measure some bands up to what was going on at the time when the music was being made. To try an compare Kiss or Judas to what is todays definition of hardcore is kind of unfair to say the least.
I am not saying that I don't love those old songs of Dio, I grin from ear to ear when I hear Rainbow in the dark, or Heaven & hell, but I don't look at it as being equal to what is going on now. I didn't mean to offend you, or anybody else for that matter, it's just I judge things kind of in that way. As for Dio back when Sabbath was doing there thing with him they kicked much ass for the time, but today that music is almost main stream in comparison to bands like Lamb of God, or a Slayer. So yes any music even the Ozzy years are kind of a nostalgia thing, the only exception to the Osbourne years with Sabbath is that most of the music made with Ozzy is timeless, it still works in a big way when anyone covers one of those old Sabbath songs, such as paranoid, or rat salad, or into the void, its doesn't sound dated, it measures up lyrically to anything that is out there now. So maybe now you better understand what I am trying to convey to you, I am in no way trying to put you down, or say that you are wrong exactly, instead I just want you to see it from my perspective, & my generations perspective when it comes to Ozzy & Sabbath.
I feel even if Osbourne had never even met Sharon, & he had ended up over dosing on drugs as did Hendrix, or Morrison, even if he had never had a solo career, Ozzy Osbourne would have been loved, & revered just as much as anyone of the guys I just mentioned. Hell Ozzy may have been even a bigger deal if he had of died, it sure didn't hurt, or tarnish any of the before mentioned musicians, or their music, in fact I think it only propelled them further into the rock legend status, but thats just my personal thought on it all, maybe you being younger you may disagree, I don't see how, but you may???
Peace bro!
