Ozzyangel

Yes Ozzy has tons of fans world-wide but his fame has dwindled in popular culture. 20 or so years ago maybe after NMT Ozzy could've given JL a run for his money but these days popular culture only know him as the old fart who picked up dog s*** on MTV. Both Ozzy and Lennon have die hard fans, Ozzy probably has a few thousand more, but Lennon has the masses because everyone either knows a Beatles song or knows of The Beatles and John was the frontman.
Ozzy's music and actions draws more groups away than Lennon's. It is in popular culture and the more common person that Lennon is more remembered, but it is in loyality and passion that Ozzy will be more remembered.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)

You're right about Bill writing "It's Alright" OjZoZhYn, Just like Ozzy wrote "Who are You' off of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath all by himself with a synthisizer. Back in the day they had a rule that whatever solo material each member wrote would stay within the confines of the band. No solo projects were allowed. I have to say I'm very impressed with your knowledge of Sabbath history dude. Especially for one so young. Sorry, I hope you don't think I'm trying to talk down to you bro! :)

amen. f*** ozzy haters, and f*** you a**holes who are b****ing at ozzy and calling him "c***" and other such names because you are having trouble getting ozzfest tickets. it's not his fault that everyone tried to get on and get tickets at once and made the servers flood. keep trying and you'll get them and you should be grateful that ozzy is giving us all free tickets. if you're not, and are mad at him for your trouble obtaining tickets, you aren't a real ozzy fan and don't deserve to go to ozzfest in the first place. f*** YOU! and f*** everyone who complains about his voice/music and says that he is old and should retire! i would love to see you try to rock like ozzy when you're his age! ozzy is the greatest forever and no one will ever compare to him!

I am not here to bash Ozzy. I love his music in and outside of Sabbath. But I also love the other incarnations of Sabbath. TonY (with a f***in "Y") would not say that, if that were the case why would he be playing the Dio-era of BLACK SABBATH material with Geezer and Dio if he felt that way. Not only have they released a greatest hits album with three new songs (labeled Black Sabbath) but they have released a live album of old material, and are planning of releasing a live DVD AND and another live album from this tour.

I am not here to bash but discuss the music I love. You may not like it but Black Sabbath continued for many years after the great Ozzy Osbourne left. Do you call the Dickinson era of Maiden not the true Iron Maiden cause it doesn't feature the origional vocalist? or Deep Purple or AC/DC. It is a fact that Ronnie Dio, Ian Gillian, Glenn Hughes, Tony Martin, Neil Murray, Cozy Powell, Bobby Rondinelli, ect, ect, ect were all in the band Black Sabbath.

You can live in dilussion and ignore history but there is no reason for name calling. And learn the name Tony Iommi, it is like when people mispell Ozzie Ozburn...Ozzy Ozborn's name. You know it is Ozzy Osbourne and it is Tony Iommi.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)

OK Ozzy is kicking off in two days. I sure hope that all of you guys that are going to the Washington shows stay safe, have a fricken good time and take home another year of Ozzy memories. He is going to R O C K Seattle and the George...... Kick off shows are really pretty good ones I have found....

;)

Sorry bro but I have to disagree with ya once again.

Ozzy is no less of a figure in pop culture because of his TV show, if anything the TV show only managed to endear people that didn't even begin to know anymore of him than he was the dude that bite that head off of a dove, & bat. If you actually believe this horse s***, your obviously a little biased when it comes to Ozzy Osbourne, I'm not really sure as to why? But that is how it comes across to me big guy.

I respect you an all, but there is a big difference between you & a whole lot of us Ozzy fans, & that’s the fact that you actually have some kind of reverence, or gratification in the Sabbath music that followed after Ozzy bailed. Bro I really, really hate to burst you’re bubble an all, but you’re a minority in that factor, most of us including myself really never cared for what Iommi did after Ozzy’s departure. I mean to be fair I checked it out, I kept my finger on the pulse so to speak, but it never weighed up to being as good as anything Iommi & Osbourne did together, not ever.

Again all I am trying to say is that people may be surprised when it comes to the day Ozzy passes on, with how many people come out to pay their respects. I hope that day is many, many moons away, but unfortunately like all of us Ozzy will die someday, & we will then see how many really, truly love him enough to get of their dead beat asses, and unplug from the TV, & video game systems long enough to go & have an outside vigil for the man. I myself think it will be a huge number that attend, not that all that really means two s***s really, its not like its some kind of c**k fight going on here, but I think Sharon & the kids will appreciate it when that day comes, I know I would…

Peace bro

Goodbye To Romance

First of all, sorry for my poor English (I'm from Brazil).

Well, Ozzy is the man, and every single thing he's done 'till now is like a new chapter in music's history. Along with Black Sabbath (I mean the Ozzy Years) and now on his solo carrer he's "given birth" to a lot of excellent bands, such as Metallica, Pantera and so on.

He's the man. That's a fact. No one in heavy metal's history had such a influence amongst the others as Ozzy does.

CYBERSLASH

I could not have said it better myself. Good Job!!! A lot of people in this God for bidden hell hole of a world that we live in get just a tiny bit of fame. Not even enough for an ant to see but yet they take it a run with it like "now I am a big bad MF and you are dirt". Well Ozzy has been overwhelmingly famous for almost 40 years. Yeah a half a century!!!!! He NEVER went for the money or the fame!!!! He is in it for the fans. He would DIE for his fans. He loves his fans and I mean true fans that have STUCK by him through thick and thin and would do amazing things for them. On this note, take your stupid fame who-ever you are (what little of it you have) and jump off the planet. You are banned from this one. Ozzy will Alwasy be Ozzy...... Nothing will change that and certainly not a bunch of stupid ignorant s***heads that can't tell the difference between life and General Hospital.....

Ozzy rule, rocks and rolls................ ;)

Prince of Darkness is only musical image!

Screaming at the window... (c) Ozzy

Well, I guess we will see who is right when it happens. Which hopefully won't be for awhile, atleast enough time to do atleast one Sabbath album and maybe another solo album or two.

Shame you never liked post-Ozzy Sabbath when it happened, as the music, IMO, rocks. Maybe you should give them another try. The Dio Years is a great compilation of the Dio-era and it has 3 new tracks, and The Sabbath Stones is a great tribute to the Tony Martin era. If nothing else you should listen to Nightwing from Headless Cross.

--
Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)

So call it something different, I used to lable Dio-era Sabbath "Metal Gods" as Dio mean god in Italian, Ray Gillen-era as "Blacklands" cause he later went on to form Badlands, Seventh Star as Tony Iommi cause it was origionally intended as his 1st solo album, and the Tony Martin era as "Black Idols" casue Eternal Idol was their debut. Listen to a band because of the music not the name. Priest kept the name after halford left, and it f***in rocks, same with Maiden for both Dianno and Dickinson, and AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Motorhead, Van Halen. Band lineups change and sometimes the name does too.

--

Hey I hear ya!! I haven't come across any bashing. But If I do, I'll rip into their ass like two starving dogs going after the same bone!!

Metal head... And damn proud!!!

--Where would the world be without 'opinion'? Contrast of values is what makes for color in the world. If someone has an opinion that contradicts the norm, live and let live! Besides, have we a site here thats actually about bashing artists? Nah. Everyone posting here is to any degree an artist just in the fact that we express ourselves. Emotions bring to the table what reasons have to offer. Oz and Sharon are a great team and have been producing entertainment thats cutting edge. Long live that.

work, home, work...we love, we learn, we love again. ego ergo we go.

First thing first, I love Black Sabbath featuring Ozzy Osbourne, to me that is the real incarnation of Sabbath. Now for those of you that followed Iommi in all his later attempts at recapturing what he had with Ozzy & the original line up, "and I am not trying to be rude here", diminished as more, & more time went along in Tony’s crusade of keeping it alive, I fully understand your loyalty. I bought those early Sabbath albums without Ozzy, I bought my fair share of Dio solo material, but in the end it wasn’t the same to me, so much so I always felt that maybe Tony should have had the courage to drop the name, but if I had to second guess as to why he didn’t, it would be because of legal obligations that kept him tied to the Sabbath name. Now I also consider Iommi a hero of mine, a living legend, so you will never hear me say anything I feel is untrue of him, if I do by chance it is out of pure ignorance, & me not having the facts straight. As for bashing I really try not to let my feelings get the best of me, but when it comes to music I tend to get emotional, so it does happen from time to time.

Most of the Sabbath catalog after Ozzy I enjoyed in its present day, but what I feel is a fundamental factor is that Ozzy’s music with Sabbath doesn’t sound all that dated, as to when we get to Dio, or Ian Gillan it does sound dated. The only thing that makes any Sabbath song with Ozzy sound dated is the poor recording studios at the time the music was being released, but as for the Sabbath featuring Dio this statement can not be as true.

Sabbath with Ozzy has been proven to hold up to today’s young audiences, & done so by such artists re-recording these songs in today’s contemporary studios. I have as yet heard a Dio Sabbath song redone that I found to be an improvement, or better than the actual release, in fact I cant even think of one at this very moment. Now with that said I am not saying anybody has really improved on what Ozzy & the boys did during the original conception of those songs, but it translates very well. Now for me personally Dio, or Ian Gillan’s work with Tony/Sabbath, is something I can only look back on with child like nostalgia, I don’t see it as heavy, or as good as some of the music that has been made within that last decade. I by today’s standards find a lot of the lyrics to be juvenile, over the top, thus making it sound dated like a lot of music being made at that time frame. Now before all of you Dio, or die hard Iommi sab fans wanna crucify me to death, let me state again that’s just my personal feelings on it all, I as well love Tony, & would be honored to met, talk with him, he is forever a definitative hero in my book. But he isn’t Ozzy, and I am sure he would be the first to admit that factor, because Ozzy has had a much more profitable outcome, not just being rich in notoriety, but with loyal fans that will buy records, fill arenas, festivals, & so on…

now we all could debate this topic forever, so lets just sum it up here with the following statement.

<strong><cite>One mans Tony Iommi, is another mans Ozzy Osbourne, or vice versa ...</cite></strong> lol

Peace

Scapegoat

Hey you guys. Just ingore people and rise above them. Remember John Lennon? The world stood still for three days. The whole world stopped when he was killed. Ozzy is in the same catagory. He is loved by the world. Yeah there are people that don't like metal and don't like Ozzy and that is OK but they need to stay out of here and do whatever they are doing where-ever they are doing it. I am so sick and tired of the Ozzy bashing from people that have never even heard his music. You guys.... It is a total waiste of time and energy. Positive vibes to the people that you feel you hate the most will make you feel a whole lot better. None of us have any more time to deal with a negative source. Just look and walk the other way. We are all with Ozzy and we always will be. Once a legendary fan of Ozzy, Alwasy a legendary fan of Ozzy. Yeah we may go away and get side tracked for a few months or years BUT we always come back home.......

Goodbye To Romance

Bro I am not saying that I didn't enjoy it for the time, I listened to Heaven & hell, & mob rules a crap load. Just to me it was never as awesome as when Ozzy was in the band. You being younger, & you not being exposed to Ozzy first probably plays a fundamental factor in you not being prejudice with liking one more than the other. But as for me Ozzy was the man, & he was what I thought of when I heard the name Black Sabbath mentioned. I loved Dio back in the day, & I still respect what he has contributed to the heavy music scene, but I will never see him as an equal when it comes to fronting Sabbath, Dio is more of a nostalgia thing to me now.

As for who wrote what lyrics, I have heard you mention that a lot on here, & I agree historically your pretty much right on the money. But???? What I want to express to you is, that even with giving you the satisfaction that Osbourne didn't write all the lyrics doesn’t really mean snidely s*** when you look at the big picture. Ozzy is the guy who breathed life into all those words & lyrics; he is the guy who brought it all home to you when the rest of the guys in Sabbath were unable to do it themselves. Anyone who has worked in a band, or group relationship has a system, or method that works best for them. Some bands write all the music first without the vocalist even present in the practice studio, and then the singer is brought in to do his thing at a later time Then other vocalist are right there for the creative process the whole way through, and many during the creative process sing, & try things out on a improve basis. Ozzy it is rumored has done this during the recording of a lot of his albums, past & present, too much of an enormous effect I must add, it worked great.

I am not upset with Geezer, or who ever getting their due credit, as I am sure Osbourne feels much the same, I have never heard Ozzy say anything other than the truth about his relationship within the band, that’s one of the main reasons why I love him so damn much, Ozzy is not a liar, or a egotistical a**hole when it comes to his music.

As for Iommi after Dio, I have to say I really didn’t care what he was doing, or whom he was doing it with. I at that point had moved on, & was listening to a lot of other bands that didn’t seem to have that stigma that Sabbath had manage to acquire after going through two different vocalists.

I love Iommi as I have said before, no one can pound out a riff anymore-bad ass than Iommi, and he is forever & always will be the master of heavy metal riffs! Here is an example for ya, his latest effort I heard a song off an Ozzfest compilation cd my daughter brought home from the family values tour, they were handing them out free imagine that. The song I heard was ok when it came to the music, but the singer sounded so f***in dated, some old ass 80’s sounding s***, & it almost instantly turned me completely the f*** off. It is for those reasons I stopped listening to Iommi solo efforts, & the same can be said for the later Sabbath records, I just simply got tired of being disappointed with all the lame ass singers, jaded to say the least.

I just want ya to know I am impressed by what you know of Sabbath, especially the later years when I tuned out, but my advice is don’t be so eager to rib, or chastise Ozzy when it comes to writing lyrics, or his musical input. To sum this diatribe up my friend, you would have to search the world a hundred times over to ever think of finding a better front man than Ozzy f***in Osbourne!

Now can I all have an Amen on that one folks!

AMEN!

Peace

<cite>"Being sober on a bus is, like, totally different than being drunk on a bus."</cite> - <strong>Ozzy Osbourne</strong>

I hear you OjZoZhYn when you say that referring to something as dated is sometimes unfair, especially when it comes to old ass music like Kiss, or old metal such as Priest. A lot of younger guys laugh at these bands by todays standards, which is really unfair, you have to measure some bands up to what was going on at the time when the music was being made. To try an compare Kiss or Judas to what is todays definition of hardcore is kind of unfair to say the least.

I am not saying that I don't love those old songs of Dio, I grin from ear to ear when I hear Rainbow in the dark, or Heaven & hell, but I don't look at it as being equal to what is going on now. I didn't mean to offend you, or anybody else for that matter, it's just I judge things kind of in that way. As for Dio back when Sabbath was doing there thing with him they kicked much ass for the time, but today that music is almost main stream in comparison to bands like Lamb of God, or a Slayer. So yes any music even the Ozzy years are kind of a nostalgia thing, the only exception to the Osbourne years with Sabbath is that most of the music made with Ozzy is timeless, it still works in a big way when anyone covers one of those old Sabbath songs, such as paranoid, or rat salad, or into the void, its doesn't sound dated, it measures up lyrically to anything that is out there now. So maybe now you better understand what I am trying to convey to you, I am in no way trying to put you down, or say that you are wrong exactly, instead I just want you to see it from my perspective, & my generations perspective when it comes to Ozzy & Sabbath.

I feel even if Osbourne had never even met Sharon, & he had ended up over dosing on drugs as did Hendrix, or Morrison, even if he had never had a solo career, Ozzy Osbourne would have been loved, & revered just as much as anyone of the guys I just mentioned. Hell Ozzy may have been even a bigger deal if he had of died, it sure didn't hurt, or tarnish any of the before mentioned musicians, or their music, in fact I think it only propelled them further into the rock legend status, but thats just my personal thought on it all, maybe you being younger you may disagree, I don't see how, but you may???

Peace bro!

AMEN!!!!! that was the only i hated about the old forum on ozzyhead.com there were so many people on there that didn't even like ozzy, it was like "why the f*** are you on here???"

long live to Ozzy

Unfortunately there are those kinds of sleeze buckets on every website. There is a difference between genuine critique and useless bashing. Some people just like to be morons.

Scapegoat, I truely admire you for atleast listening to the post-Ozzy Sabbath. Many of these mindless buggers bash it without hearing a complete song. I myself at first found, especially the Tony Martin-era, to sound bland and dated but after a while I began to hear something different and now I love it.

With that being said, ever hear of the band Benedictum? They did covers of H&H and Mob Rules that are pretty awsome. Also there is an Argintinian band called Barilari that did a cover of H&H in spanish that is killer. I you want post your email and I'll send them to you.

May he stay immortal always!

Well said Goat...... I couldn't agree more.... So many people "think" they know all about lyrics and Ozzy...... Well I am here to say that when we go back (I mean way back to the orginal Black Sabbath) yeah there are those of you that were not here then.... That is why I always say "There is only ONE Black Sabbath!!!" Dio doesn't hold a candle to Ozzy on the Sabbath stage. OK some of his music is OK SOLO!!!!!! OH God Tat please no lectures...... Anyway..... Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and Bill... and FYI Ozzy did do a lot of the writing for the songs in past.... Those that are stupid enough to think he didn't, don't know s*** when it comes to Ozzy F****** Osbourne.... Sorry Goat just didn't feel like swaring.... Sometimes, just not in the mood LOL........................ OK stupid f***S get off Ozzys site..... :-)

Goodbye To Romance

OK this is my take...... Black Sabbath, Priest, Iron Maiden and on and on and on..... you guys know the drill. That is music...... This s*** today? I have no clue what to call it. I sure don't think that it holds a candle to Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Sabbath and God... I am too tire to name all of the true legendary bands.........

Metallica is IMO the last band that really took the stage and did music (at least on their first 4 albums)..... The 90's????? f*** I have not a clue what to call that s***.... Some of it is OK but geeeeeeeeeeesh not nothing like back in the day......:-)

Love you all....................

Fix me!!!

Can't we all just get along?

Agreed...why you would purposely make someone else go....pardon the pun, batty with your nasty comments about someone you obviously hate that you wonder why they're talkin' about them, is beyond me. I respect this man far more than I ever thought I did before, if nothing else for coming out and saying, I have a problem and I'm dealing with it, day to day...I admire him. Not far behind him, I admire Sharon. I know that'll probably anger lots of you on here. but hear me out. She has stood by him for SO many years, and was the first to truly believe in him and in what he could do ON HIS OWN...she married him out of her OWN volition, no one forced her, she lived with him, and essentially nursed him back to health. I know the ultimate responsibility for his sobriety lies with him, but let's face it, if it hadn't been for her, perhaps he would not be here today, and if for nothing else, for that we all as fans of Ozzy, owe her that much of a debt of gratitude. Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

I agree with ozzysprincess on this.

No apologies needed for the use of profanity, in fact I love it, the trick is you have to know who it is that is deserving of an all out profane filled verbal assault, & who is simply caught in your cross fire. Some people don't appreciate it as much as I do, myself I love a good old fashioned f*** in a sentence, or a pool table depending on if I have enough chalk for my stick, it kind of spices things up a bit.

As for the comments that people have made about Ozzy and his actual creative abilities, each is entitled to his, or her own opinion, via that’s why this is called a open forum.

I am not trying to be mean, or nasty about challenging someone in his or her views, I just love a great debate, and so far out of almost anybody on here OjZoZhYn has given me much to think about. He is very knowledgeable of Sabbath, & the legacy, he is a smart young lad to say the least. I enjoy his thoughts, & he is always very respectful when he responds back with you, I could hang with the guy & buy him a beer, as long as we toasted Ozzy instead of Dio lol!

Anyway as always I appreciate you seeing things as I do, & I agree some people take the whole Ozzy bashing to far, but hey its America, & as long as her flag shall fly may we all be able to say what we think & feel without the fear of someone taking us away.

Peace

<cite>"Being sober on a bus is, like, totally different than being drunk on a bus."</cite> - <strong>Ozzy Osbourne</strong>

Nah, rose you gotta give props to the likes of Pantera, Alice In Chains, BLS. I personally love Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Smashing Pumpkins, Rob Zombie. There are good contemporary band out there too. Its just a bit harder to find them.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)

I never understood WHY anyone would waste their time bagging on a particular artist on their very own website. It's too easy and so draining; totally negative nonsense.
I just want to hang with other people who are Ozzy die-hards such as myself. Not much to ask, right?
I do loosely echo someone's sentiment about the "F*** 'em!" thing: Ozzy has done it all and keeps on going. I wish I could punch every idiot who says Ozzy's a mumbling mess. The guy is 100x smarter than lots of people give him credit for and that many times more talented. You don't make it for almost 40 years without knowing what you're doing. And please tell these s***heads that Ozzy has an accent, for chrissakes! Anyone seen his 'Behind The Music'? His sister speaks with the same Birmingham,UK accent. People I think bag on Ozzy 'cos they don't understand what makes him tick and why he's so enduring and popular. He's still a down-to-earth guy amidst all of the four decades of great, great success.
I'm so proud of him for being clean and sober for the better part of three years. He doesn't even smoke cigs anymore. After going from where he was at to where he is now, that's pretty major, major stuff. F*** anyone who doesn't get Ozzy. They never will and they probably are never meant to. F*** 'em indeed! And I'm really digging 'Black Rain', to boot. Ozzy's singing better live than he has in a very, very long time and I
applaud that a zillion-fold. He's still as fun and engaging on stage as he ever has been; only now he has
that much more clarity to work with. So to anyone who comes here just to bag on Ozzy without a shred of an opinion worth reading,f*** you and the horses you ride in on. Ozzy will outlive you! He already has outlived so many already. Rock On Ozzy and Know some of us get it, and have been happily 'getting it' for many a year (in my case, almost 26 years). Peace! TG

LOTS of people like to be morons...

Goodbye To Romance

I agree almost 100% with ya OjZoZhYn on that last post of yours bro.

There is a lot of awesome bands that are keeping the flame alive so to speak, unfortunately Rose is also correct in the statement that a whole, whole lot of today’s music is nothing but complete crap. But like anything that gets really popular, it sometimes, if not almost always kind of kills it off so to speak, at the very least dilutes it.

Real hard rock had a huge, huge resurrection in the late 80's, and continued well into the 90's. I mean damn Pantera hit the billboard charts damn it, now that is a huge accomplishment, one that not to many hardcore metal groups can lay claim to.

As for an example of my theory it is most evident in the popular rise of comic books, or science fiction & fantasy, it is so flooded now because of its popularity that it suffers on a whole, & metal is another victim of this circumstance. I know there is awesome metal to be heard out there right now, just the problem is this, you have to really kind of hunt it out, you have to find it in that endless sea of bastardized bulls*** that is being produced at an ailing speed & velocity. And as far as the bands that you mentioned OjZoZhYn, I love almost everyone of them, some more than others of course, but the only band you mentioned that I never really had an appreciation for, is Nirvana. I have always thought they were over rated as all s***, & they basically hit the music scene when it was at a all time low. Nirvana introduced an image & sound that seemed to be just commercial enough, but yet not completely sold out, and in by doing so they managed to strike a chord with teenagers wanting to lay claim to it as being something new & inventive, but to me there was nothing new going on there, especially if you knew who the f*** the Melvins were??? lol

So my dislike for Nirvana is a whole other conversation, & one that most people almost always seem to disagree with me on, kind of like pearl jam, I simply just hate them!

lol………. Anyway later peeps!

Peace

I hear ya but when it comes to others why worry about what they have to say....you know that you are a fan so if someone wants to "follow" and try to be something that they aren't then it is there life that they are wasting there time with trying to fit in!!!

I am confused too. LOL............

All I got to say is there are some really stupid people in this world. It must suck to be as stupid as some of the people I have come accross. Bashing Ozzy is a big bad NO NO.................. ;)
