Ozzy continues to kick a dead horse!!!

Don't get me wrong I am one of the biggest fans of Ozzy.My gripe is that in my opinion every record Ozzy has done since after Bark at the Moon he has been regurgitating the same old thing.I believe Ozzy need to follow in the steps of bands like Tool who morphed into Perfect Circle also like Sound Garden and Rage Against The Machine became Audioslave. Another example Guns and Roses leftovers merged with the StoneTemple Pilots sound and became Velvet Revolver. You get the picture. I think Ozzy need to join a new band under a new name. Or grab a popular band without a singer.Ozzy has been rehashing the same stuff since No More Tears. Another thought I had was for Ozzy to make a record with Sabbath and sing Ian Gillan songs and Tony Martin songs that would sell well for sure.If anyone knows Ozzy personaly please pass on my dream or my delusion.I just wish OZZY would come up with something fresh and inspiring. Please give some feedback tell me if you feel the same or am I just full of s***. Thanks

No Way! I recently bought Down To Earth, which is my favorite, and I had to special order it.
The greatest songs.

Dear Explorer 1,

I know that you want Ozzy to try something new in his music and concerts. However, I have a carrot to pick with you over the title to your thread. Please consider changing it, for me, a Kentucky Derby winner.

Love,

Barbaro

You've gotta be kidding, man!!!!!! Great songs are great songs and evolution, especially into something you're not, is overrated!!!! Ozzy has delivered POWERHOUSE music that is full of passion on EVERY album he's recorded since 'Blizzard....' He records with the greatest metal guitarist on the planet, ZAKK WYLDE, so what more could Ozzy fans want? 'BLACK RAIN' is yet another KILLER album from OZZY......BRILLIANT!!!!!!

You are saying the God father of MeTaL should change hmmm. The one who affected their music and encouraged them to play the way they do. It doesn't seem right. And you think Zakk wounldn't kick any of their asses in a play off ha. Hissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. I'm out

Zakk is great and all but I''d take Iommi over Zakk any day of the week, until Tony is too weak to hold his guitar.

Tony Iommi = God, his arch angels are Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Walker, Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, and Bill Ward (bassically everyone who sang on a song labeled Black Sabbath)

Ozzy HAS changed. Not a single album of his sounds like the others, even Sabbath for that matter

Look I will be the fist to agree with the fact that Ozzy is a bit guilty of playing it safe & not putting his neck out on the chopping block so to speak, but to bring it all into perspective he is after all in his 50’s. So Ozzy may, or may not be selling his audience short when it comes to delivering the goods. But this factor depends on the listener, the consumer. I myself have already stated on here that I have not gotten that original rush I experienced when I first heard Diary, or Blizzard as a young man, but I have found that most often there will be at least 4, or more cuts that kind of sound like the Ozzy I fell in love with all those years ago on almost any one of his later records.

In the end I cant blame any one of Ozzy’s guitarist, past, or present. I can only assume Ozzy has total creative control, & has the last say in what is put out there for the consumer. So as to your statement about Ozzy being repetitive, my answer is yes I agree with that analogy. But I over look it considering his age, & the fact that he doesn’t, nor has he needed to do anything since probably Speak of the devil, or Bark at the Moon. I remember right after the release of ultimate sin, I read somewhere that he was worth around 60 million, that included his estates, everything. So Ozzy does this not only for his own self-gratification, but also for us, his intentions are in the right place I think.

As for one guitarist being better than the other, again all about personal taste. I tend to go for guys like randy Rhoads & Joe Holmes; I don’t care for all the flair & showboating. But there are a lot of people that just love that stuff, so who am I to say who is right, or who is wrong. It is all about what gets you off in the end. What makes you tingle where you pee, may not be the same for the next guy or girl. So before you make a statement as you have, you have to digest all that & come to your own personal conclusion.

As for me, myself & I, I personally love the Randy Rhoads years, after that its been a slow long ride down hill, & even though his newer stuff isn’t as powerful to “ME”, doesn’t mean that there isn’t a audience out there eating that s*** up. So far I have heard far more positive things said than negative, so we will see what remains to be true with the honorable test of time.

Again just my two cents on it all…

Peace.

Ozzy has evolved over the many years of his career people; I will acknowledge that much easily. But is it as good as it should be? I personally don’t think so; I think Ozzy is capable even at 53 years of age to do his best work ever! If I honestly believed other wise I wouldn’t be here, I would be posting on a clutch, or slayer forum instead.

As for a showdown with Zakk and any other guitarist, that really isn’t necessary for me, I am fully aware of Mr. Wylde’s talent, it’s the fact that he isn’t delivering more than what he has of lately,
that’s what has me disgruntled. I know what Zakk is capable of, but what I am asking is? WHERES THE BEEF! Lol

As for Ozzy needing Zakk, I have to say bulls***! Ozzy existed long before Zakk entered his life, & there are a million other talented guitarists that would slit Zakks f***in throat for a single chance to play for the Prince of Darkness!

Once again like a biblical prophet from old screaming out at the masses, I ask all of you? Do you not want Ozzy to exceed his past glories with Blizzard, & Diary before he goes? If so you wont get this by purchasing this sub standard bulls*** that has been delivered, you will get it by hurting Ozzy’s pocket book so to speak, and that seems to be almost an impossible task considering his assets, but Ozzy loves da money, further more Sharon loves da money! So if anybody really wants to see The Ozz man put his nose to the grindstone here & deliver like he has in years past, it can only be done by not supporting what you feel is only adequate material.

For the millionth time here, I am only saying these things out of love an admiration for the man, I want Ozzy to go out with a f***in bang, not a s***y ass whimper!

Scapegoat

although i do prefer the black sabbath and randy rhoads eras over anything, i have to say that ozz does not need to change his band at all. zakk is totally awesome, he's not randy by any means, but he is awesome. i think if anyone alive is qualified to work with ozz besides zakk it's toni iommi. as far as blasko and micheal bordin go, i prefer blasko over robert trujillo i just think the bass on the latest album was more meaty than down to earth. micheal bordin does a great job i don't think anybody except maybe lars ulrich or bill ward could do better (lars would be awesome as a drummer for ozz, no?) overall i think ozzy is doing great. i can't see any real flaw in his works.

I've been an Ozzy fan since 1978! I agree with Snakeman and junkie07!!!!!! Tony FIRED Ozzy or did every one forget that? if Ozzy would try to change into something he totally is not, every one would be b****ing about that too. Some people would say that he is selling out...trying to be "like the young musicians". Especially oldie fans like me. At least I can understand every word Ozzy is singing!

I think all the songs sound different...I mean...as with any band there is a certain "sound"
that predominates.....which is why Tool sounds like Tool, and Korn sounds liek Korn,
and Pink Floyd sounds like Pink Floyd....BUT they are all very different in composition
and in execution......Ozzy himself has a very distinct voice and so a very distinct sound,
but he manages to mix it up plenty for my liking. that's just my opinion.

of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most -Ozzy- Hey! Check out my OzzFest Photos! http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=20837965&albumId=892934

Yeah but I will have to take this the wrong way. (for you)
So your basic issue is that Ozzy needs to get a new name? Ozzy is a global standard.Ozzy magnetizes the talent to him. From my long term perspective Ozzy has indeed changed his styles and sounds in a substantial way over the years. Both with talent and technologies.
He will be around a long time from now and people who feel lees than enthusiastic about their musical tastes for any band, artist, or genre should be honest with THEMSELVES and sit it out in the mall, park, nursing home, or insane asylumn.
I`ll be at the f***ing Ozzfest. See you there....maybe.
Ozzy is the rocker of the millenium.................

what does all this have to do with ozzy kicking a dead horse???? i don't get it!!!

I reason we could die - the best vitality cannot excel decay....

Yeah Tony fired Ozzy cause Ozzy was killing himself, but they have since burried the hatchet so why can't you. Nobody is saying change Ozzy take the 58 year old Ozzy and get him together with the 59 year old Tony, the 57 year old Geezer, and the 59 year old Bill and make an album. I don't care if he sounds like he does on the debut, Blizzard, NMT, or Black Rain just that he is singing it will sound great. Fused is great that shows Tony still has the spark, Black Rain is killer and that shows Ozzy still has the spark. These guys are still awsome but they aren't being awsome together.

man e1 you are f***IN CRAZY. OZZY needs to just keep being OZZY and not what you want him to be. TONY and ZAKK are the only 2 people he needs to work with. along with OZZY vocals Zakks guitars are now also OZZY sound. and besides ZAKK is the MAN name one other guitar player besides TONY living better than ZAKK motherf***in WYLDE?

Explorer1 are you bashing OZZY? Althogh it does not sound profane I have taken offense to you're comment ! Ozzy is still kicking a dead horse? , or are you the dead horse with out a heart beat for OZZY. I tell you another disloyal OZZY poser is what it sounds like to me.

--OZZY SOILDER

He isn't bashing Ozzy he is just pissed that year after year Ozzy says s*** like "I'd be crazy not to do another album with Sabbath" and we never get one.

Outlaw? Better than Zakk, uhh...Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, Slash, Jake E Lee, Glenn Tipton, Brian May, Kerry King, Eddie Van Halen, Billy Gibbons. David Gilmour, ect

Zakk is great and all but there are tons of guitar players that are better than him.

OJZ NO ONE IS BETTER THAN ZAKK! he is the only left after ozzy that will carry on what true rock is, real, hard and heavy as hell. the guys you listed are a joke except kk and slash what music have they put out recent that matters. its all in the past. your just JEALOUS that Zakk would kick all of their asses in a guitar duel and deep down you know it too.

Yeah youre right bro wow man cool. Right on stoners rule!!! I'm an old heshen named white indian too. Wow man totally narly so youre down with the sioux and the red man ways. Killer bro. Time to smoke a fatty!!! Ozzy was way cool like back in 1984. Wow man tubular. Now I'm sober and nothing sounds good anymore. Ozzy still rules man.I wish I could go to Ozzy's house to just kick back.Anything Ozzy does is great period!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the guys I mentioned are still rockin, Billy Gibbons was Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitar player. That says something doesn't it? Glenn Tipton was amazing on the Angel Of Retribution, album and tour. They all stil got it and I'm sure Zakk would agree.

NO WAY!!!!!! Since TUS?!?! HAHA you're joking right? No way TUS sounds anything like NRFTW or NMT or Ozzmosis or DTE or BR. Sure there is some element of similarity atlest with the ones festuring Zakk, simply because they feature the same guitarist. I agree that artists should evolve and change because it is what is to be expected but IMO Ozzy has evolved enough and has seemed to find his niche. I'm also sure that if he keeps this up he will continue to evolve his sound a bit.

But Ozzy needs to keep his two main guitarists Tony and Zakk. A new Sabbath album with Ozzy would be the first thing I would wish for if I found a magic lamp but Ozzy's voice is too different than Ian and Tony Martin's and thus would butcher the great songs with those guys. Hell Ozzy can't even sing some of his own songs anymore. I'm all for, and would perfer it to working with Zakk, a new Sabbath album but IMO Black Rain kicks some major ass and so have all of his albums.

It seems that if you are savvy and you can talk the way of the Lady Evil then you've got something on you're mind! How do we ever know the history. Being a part of the way is all I know! Allways on my mind !

Of soulfulness-

OjZoZhYn12.03.48, thanks for reply.I would have to agree it has to do with the similar guitarist.I've been a fan of Ozzy's since 1987.Everything he does is worth my attention.Either way Ozzy has paid his dues.I think Ozzy is afraid of doing another Sabbath album unless he knows it will work.Oh, check out Ian Gillan doing Heaven and Hell on You Tube.I think he lost his voice or something he had to improvise. It looked like Tony Iommi and whoever the other guy was had a hard time keeping track of the song.

It's just like a good marriage...sure, everything will not be as exciting as the first date, but it's still good!

i agree

To say if Ozzy was to evolve & attempt to capture some of the modern metal traits found in metal today as selling out, I for the life of me cant see how? After all this is the creator of modern metal, the pioneer of the very blue print on how hard rock music should be done, I mean if anybody in the world is expected to deliver when it comes to hard rock, its Ozzy freakin Osbourne!

It kind of baffles me to hear such a statement, I hear time after time on here how some of you don't like the opening bands at Ozzfest because of the excessive "growling". now here is a thought my peeps? What if Ozzy's band sounded as mean & heavy as say a lamb of god, or crowbar? Imagine what a combo Ozzy's vocals would lend to those kinds of riffs & tempos? Thats what I want to hear from Ozzy, I want my nuts kicked up in my throat, I don't expect fluff from of all people Ozzy Osbourne. So with that said I think people need to understand that Ozzy is the master when it comes to heavy music, & he should come back to us by creating a set of new songs that blow our f***in minds, not just settle for being ok, or radio friendly, he needs to snap a few necks, thats what I think. but then maybe I am the minority here, & Ozzy just getting old should excuse him from delivering the goods these days????? Just my 2 cents here!!
