A video a day keeps the doctor away

How about a topic where we share a video a day that you really think is cool. Maybe put some lyrics up with it that makes the song stand out for you ~ or, words of your own that explain what you like about it?

Ok.

Best to start with my all time favorite song, from Ozzy, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYSt_81PTZQ"> "Back on Earth" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYSt_81PTZQ )</a>

I drive almost 2.5 hrs a day to work and home a day. I sometimes play this song over and over, because the visuals that come to mind are just mind-blowing with this song for some reason. It reminds me of movies of angels and immortals, big time. The Nosferatu style video Ozzy did was very cool, but my imagery is more The Prophecy, Constantine, Legion, or City of Angels.

-----------
I have fallen from grace, and my ashes are scattered
No longer of passion and flesh
My flame is alive, though my wings have been shattered
They lay my body to rest

My spirit is breathing, my senses are pure
Like reincarnation, my soul will endure

Back on earth (3x)
The spirit, it never lets go

Like fountains of sorrow, the faces are crying
I'm witnessing all of their pain
Death is so final, for only the living
The spirit will always remain

Bury me deep, just to cover my sins
My soul is redeemed, as the journey begins

Back on earth (you feel me/reveal me)
Back on earth, the spirit it never lets go

Another dimension, a river of life
I'm twisting, I'm turning, my soul is in flight

Back on earth (you feel me/reveal me/still breathing/reliving) 2x

So, it's not a video. It's a link to an album from a band I saw at the Red Eyed Fly in Austin, TX some 7 years ago now. Just spun them at work today. Checking on where they are today, they played at Mayhem, right on. I knew they were on their way last time I checked in, they were in a contest but frankly the new style they had adopted was not working for me. It seems they have returned to their roots. Magic.

Anyhow, the lead singer came up and was talking to me and the guy I was there with during their break, and shared some shots with us, on him lo.. He had a bone in his nose, straight through the middle cartilage. :oP ouch! Very nice guys. And talented, you could just hear it. I could. I got the shivers. In part because of them, I LOVE Austin!

This is a hyperlink to it --><a href="http://powderburn.bandcamp.com/album/powderburn">The whole album is amazing. A fav song is called "Revulsion."</a> It's from their first CD. "Thorn in My Side" and "Thanatopsis" are pretty evocative, ya know?

In a weird way, the lyrics remind me alot of Ozzy's style. If you listen to more than this song, it's a great album. Yea, it is a bit harsh. But it's still great music.

This whole album has meaning to me because I heard this band the night I told my ex to go fu@k himself and began living for myself instead of for "us." After 11 years, not an arbitrary decision. But a long over due one.

A fitting way to begin my new life, hearing a really amazing band. I'd never heard them before but just really loved their music. They gave me my CD. I still have it, in fact I burned other playable ones so my original doesn't get worn out.

Here's a video that I hope to hear played live.

Ah yes. Never in my life have I come across a song that speaks of the sadness inside of me with such perfection. Kind of funny that the song was written after Beethoven lost a dear friend prematurely to death. It was written in his grief. To me it just says it all. The version I have is played a bit slower. But this one, it's done exceptionally well despite the tempo being slightly faster. Just gorgeous.

But the one composer who I love more than anything? Hands down, Chopin. This is another song that is just so beautiful...ok, ok, it's more than one. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsmvq0ZRNR8">Chopin Pianoconcerto No.1 Romance-Larghetto [Sa Chen]( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsmvq0ZRNR8 )</a>

So take those beans and fry them!

And now, for today...the video pick is this one. Its' a song that I heard about 22 years ago, when I was the mother of a young son. I was 24. It was just one of those songs you connect to instantly, it hit me big time. It spoke of the daughter that I knew I would have one day and somehow the song captured EXACTLY how I envisioned her. Today? She's all that and then some. She's known this as 'her' song since forever. I know I'm gonna bawl my eyes out this January when she and I see Slash and Ozzy. Big time!

how could you anyone live and love music without knowing the brilliance of The Wall?

In honor of Roger Waters current tour, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rAgeVvDJHM">Empty Spaces: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rAgeVvDJHM</a>

f***ing unbelievable movie. Untouchable. One of those extended times of brilliance cutting dimensions and becoming part of reality.

I have heard if you have REAL Player, you can save video's and play them on your own computer so it streams better.

Anyway, hats off to Floyd. My all time favorite band - legendary.

Now this, it's a creative take on a song written and recorded long ago by Ozzy and Lita Ford that I happen to love. I really dig how this user set this animation footage to the song - whoever did it did a very good job ;o)

in honor of System of a Down, who will be (yea!!!!!) returning on tour this year, my two fav songs from them:

and

:o). On this Christmas Eve, what better video to share then one made by the man himself.

Merry Christmas everybody!

k. k. k. k. well, it was very hard to pick, but to mark 1-1-11, we'll do Fearless and Life Won't Wait...a double whammy from Scream. I love the songs, they're bad@ass. it was a tossup between them, so I'll post both!

Another fan (with audio!) shared this on Youtube...from the show in Phoenix.

It was awesome. Choked this woman up.

Now this video, it's just of the song "The Day That Never Comes," by Metallica. It's both my and my daughters favorite song from their new album.

I like this song because after seeing the movie, "The Stoning of Soroya M" I heard this song and boy it just seemed like it was written for that movie big time. Wow. If you haven't seen the movie, you really should. It's the most horrifying thing I have ever seen.
