A7X part ways with Mike Portnoy

"This certainly comes as a major surprise. Since departing from Dream Theater back in September, many thought that Portnoy’s involvement with the band would eventually become permanent. It also seems like weird timing for this to happen, since Avenged Sevenfold still has a lot of touring commitments to fulfill, including their Nightmare After Christmas tour. It also seems like Portnoy was hoping/willing to continue at least a little further. So what gives? This would further explain, though, why they recently canceled their involvement with the Australian Soundwave festival. We’ll keep you posted when more information is revealed regarding both Portnoy and A7X’s plans."

LOL...well, here's some more of the scoop, this part seems to ignore that nugget mentioned earlier in favor of a slightly more respectful slant:

Mike and the band agree that can’t be him. Why? Long before there was an Avenged Sevenfold, there were members of this band who looked up to Mike and, in Jimmy’s case, learned a lot from watching Mike play. He is a brilliant writer, producer and, of course, drummer. Because of that, the world and we would always see it as Avenged Sevenfold with Mike Portnoy.

So, the drama continues. If you read here http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=151044 there is some dirt going on with an oversea festival in Australia (Soundwave festival) and fur flying regarding that show.

Aha...a nugget.
