Well, it was so strange for me at first to see Ozzy out of the context of Black Sabbath. I remember hearing the music he put out with the band and liking what I heard. I remember thinking how beautifully Randy played the guitar, and yet, how rocking. I remember a great sadness not hearing his guitar on the radio after he died. It was a great loss. Eddie Van Halen had the technical ripping sounds, but Randy was so melodic.
Ozzy shifted from being the guy in fringe and just like one of us to "the madman." I didn't like that too much, because frankly Ozzy was never that to me as much as a super approachable and ordinary guy. Likeable. Unpretentious.
