I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...I've been an Ozzy/Black Sabbath fan since I heard the song "Black Sabbath" in 1976. I was 7 years old and noticed this music was different. My Mom had the album and used to play it every so often, but it struck a chord with me. By the time I was about 13 or 14 and really started to understand what Rock & Roll was all about, no band had more of an impact on me than Black Sabbath. I was a loner, a kid with no neighborhood, no brothers or sisters, and didn't have much in the way of happiness. So I looked inside, and escaped with music. Black Sabbath instilled a sense of power in me . When I listened to Ozzy sing, it made me feel POWERFUL. It gave me a sense of strength, taught me to stick up for myself, taught me to look at the world more closely and with question instead of blind, idiotic, faith. Black sabbath gave me what my parents couldn't, and that was INDIVIDUALITY and an unwavering demand for the whole truth in everything. They were, and are to this day my saving grace. They taught me to be strong ON MY OWN, where religion couldn't, and my family couldn't. I was able to finally walk down the school halls and not be affraid, for I would damage anyone who hurt me, and treat with respect anyone who didn't. Ozzy was the spokesman for that individuality, that strength, that power, that confidence, and I love him for it to this day. He is truly one of a kind and I'm proud of him. Proud that he lifted himself up out of a poverty stricken community and did something with his life while sharing his message along the way. He taught us all to stand up to manipulative a**holes everywhere, and made us realize to say "f*** the World" once in a while can be liberating and fun! Ozzy knows how to have fun. He knows there's a time to stop being so damn serious. He's a rebel, a clown, and I love him.
My favorite Black Sabbath tunes with Ozzy: A National Acrobat, and Spiral Architect-- equally. Ozzy on his own: Revelation Mother Earth, all-tme favorite. And of course, all the kick-ass tunes he's done. There's only a handful I don't like.
I'm a big fan of Tonny Iommi, and the Randy years will never be equaled by anyone, EVER. Zakk has proven himself to me, he's stays true to his style and doesn't bow to trends. I'm proud of his Black Label Society.
To all Ozzy Fans: To me, you're all like family. I love you all. We all share the need to be individuals, be respected, and feel powerful. We DO NOT TAKE s*** FROM ANYONE AT ANY TIME. You are my brothers and sisters I never had, and I feel comfortable and at home when I'm with any of you.
See you at OzzFest, I'll be at the Hartford date in August.
Thanks for the free tickets Ozz!!! Till then.....................................
